"Northeast In-Tune Magazine"

DC Sills writes songs with the sensibility of a country/folk tunesmith incorporating the talent to create parts for the guitar, mandolin and dulcimer in addition to her vocal melodies. Her lulling vocals are laid over simple guitar and string arrangements which are reminiscent of Americana/folk artists like Cat Stevens, Harry Chapin, and Lori McKenna, the songwriter for Faith Hills single "Fireflies."

"SongsAlive Review"

DC Sills "Always a Tourist" is a six song folk CD with spirit and conviction. The opening track, "Another Reason to Drink," is a heartfelt journey through a hard time in the singers life and how relationships sometimes challenge us and restrict us from being who we need to be. "Always a Tourist," the title track, is a quick tempo ditty which embodies the spirit of a traveling soul. Don't get attached because she'll be gone before you put the song to memory. All the songs on "Always a Tourist" are a wonderful collection of warm memorable well crafted folk songs. I have had great pleasure reviewing and listening to these tracks. - Paul Lawrence Moyer

"Penguin Eggs Folk Magazine"

Her music is a mixture of country, blues, folk, bluegrass and gospel delivered in a strong, soulful country-accented voice. Her songwriting is a cut above the usual and some of these numbers like Cajun Blood, Small Town, Hard Headed Country Boy Blues and Heaven Knows tend to stick in the mind. She may not quite have hit her stride yet...but she may be one of the ones who gets there if she continues to work as hard as she does on this disc. Some strong guitar work from Eric DiSanto helps out as well.

"DigiVegas Podcast"

DC is a talented story teller. She has a natural ability to use music and words to paint an easy picture in the listener's mind. She writes and performs her music honestly, from the heart. Not many people can do that. Fewer still are good at it. - Paulie Podcaster

"Roots Music Review"

If DC Sills were a painter, no doubt she would use a very broad brush. As a talented musical artist, she accomplishes the same artistic feat. Her music crosses many genres from country to folk to bluegrass to gospel and the really cool thing is that she is versatile enough to perform all these music types well. - Herb Barbee

Bio

With a blend of country, folk, bluegrass and gospel, DC Sills weaves stories into songs about people she’s known, people she’s lost and some people she’s just made up. Who does she sound like? She puts it this way, "Mostly, I just sound like me, DC, but there have been comparisons made to: Tracy Chapman, Maura O'Connell and even Cheryl Wheeler...I can only hope they are true!"

Raised in the piney woods of Central Louisiana, DC Sills taught herself to play the guitar by watching Austin City Limits. Influenced by the local bluegrass and gospel music scene and through the tutelage of writers like Nanci Griffith and John Prine (via Austin City Limits), DC's songwriting career was born. As a songwriter and performer DC feels both experienced and naive. She sums it up this way, "Sometimes it is a very scary thing, songwriting, telling people's stories, often turning fact into fiction, to protect the innocent and not so innocent. I don't know why I was chosen to have these words and melodies appear in my head but I am thankful and grateful."

DC's first CD, Always a Tourist, was released in September 2005 was a six song collection of songs is an eclectic blend of country, folk & bluegrass. Herb Barbee of Roots Music Review had this to say about Always a Tourist, “If DC Sills were a painter, no doubt she would use a very broad brush. As a talented musical artist, she accomplishes the same artistic feat. Her music crosses many genres from country to folk to bluegrass to gospel and the really cool thing is that she is versatile enough to perform all these music types well.”

Her follow up CD, "Better When I'm Loved", is her 1st full length CD that includes 11 original tunes. According to Penguin Eggs Magazine, “Her songwriting is a cut above the usual and some of these numbers like Cajun Blood, Small Town, Hard Headed Country Boy Blues and Heaven Knows tend to stick in the mind.” The songs are personal, inspirational and many are true! One dollar from every "Better When I'm Loved" CD will go to Louisiana non-profit organizations, Save NOLA Now and the Louisiana Organ Procurement Agency (LOPA).

DC's song "I'll Wait Forever" is included in the Independent film "Big Dreams in Little Hope".
