"R&B group DDQ gets the ladies hollering"

But before 112 would exercise anyone’s fantasies, additional unfamiliar boy bands and a lone female R&B artist would serve as opening acts.

The first to appear was female R&B artist Tracey Love, who is on the Philly independent label KeyLife Records. She came out on to the stage and hyped the crowd to a sampled Jennifer Lopez beat and then subsequently broke into three original songs of her own. With the small crowd that was there, Love’s voice was big enough to fill the room.

Following Love were her label-mates, young R&B group DDQ, who, in Boyz II Men-like matching shirts and shorts, synchronically danced and sang through about 10 minutes of a well vocalized and visually entertaining performance. They managed to – which doesn’t seem hard to do for any male group – get the girls screaming and reaching out as if the concert were headlining them instead.

Bio

DDQ

DDQ the R&B group was formed in 2001 by Dontavious Vancliff in Philadelphia, the group consist of four (4) members all from Philadelphia; Brian Seagraves 20, Omar “Osinee” Alexander 19, Dontavious “DJ” Vancliff 20, and Josh Banks 21. Groups such as New Edition, Jodeci, and the Jackson 5 have inspired them. They have blended the sounds of their favorite groups to come up with the DDQ Sound. After two (2) years of practicing and performing cover tunes, DDQ was introduced to Osinee’ s cousin Charlene who at the time was doing some A&R work for an independent label called KeyLife Records. After that chance meeting, Charlene put them in her car and drove them to one of KeyLife’s executives door for a not rehearsed performance. After hearing the young gentlemen, they were immediately signed to a development deal and put in the studio. Since that day in November, DDQ has developed over ten (10) songs and even shot a video for their debut single “Stuck on Freeze”.

In August 2004, DDQ performed at the Billboard Hip Hop and R&B Music Conference in Miami where they were given a standing ovation by Billboard staff and attendees.
