Dead Country

Dead Country

 Los Angeles, California, USA

Dead Country is what one may expect to hear if Ian Curtis and Dave Grohl got into a fist-fight in the middle of Disney's electric light parade. It is a brand of rock that has the paradoxical markings of both punk and good old fashioned guitar pop, without being exactly either--familiar but new.

Dead Country is a 4 piece rock band from Silverlake, CA which showed up on the new music radar in the summer of '09 after recording a well received 5 song demo at Foo Fighters' 606 studio with Foo Engineer John Lousteau. Foo Fighter bassist Nate Mendel played on two of the demo tracks. Dead Country toured West Coast dates with Sunny Day Real Estate and the Jealous Sound In Sept '09 to packed houses, including San Francisco's infamous Filmore and LA's Fonda Theater. The unique opportunity to play with the legendary Sunny Day Real Estate was definitely one of the highlights of this band's career thus far. Side One Dummy Records owner Joe Sib has also featured the Dead Country songs on his synicated Complete Control Radio show which airs on LA's popular indie rock station 98.7 and others in cities such as Denver, CO Portland, OR Austin, TX and Phoenix, AZ. The band recently signed a 4 song EP deal with Storefront Records/RED distribution. They will be featured on AP magazine's December Bands to watch in 2010 compilation. Dead Country has secured the #2 spot on the compilation along with a two page editorial in the magazine supplement. The band is currently working on new songs in the studio with Saosin guitarist Beau Burchell producing. 2010 is looking to be a breakout year for this promising rock band.

4 song EP to be released on Storefront Records/Sony/RED in Winter 2010.
