Dead Man Get Up! is a collective of Montreal based musicians whose sound blends the styles of Mento and Calypso music, fronted by Richard King Rigby formerly of Lake of Stew. The group makes traditional arrangements of well loved classic carribbean folk songs as well as their own compositions, and features a variety of acoustic instruments including the Rumba box, banjo, congas, claves and voices. Built on a foundation of love and respect for the Mento and Calypso masters, a Dead Man Get Up! performance is lively, welcoming, energetic and delivered with a sense of humor that is integral to the genre.
