Bio

Dead Ravens are a fresh, young band from Kamloops, BC. In the short time they've been together, they've made a name for themselves by doing what they know: Rocking the fuck out.

The idea for Dead Ravens came about in August 2009 when childhood friends Chris Whitham and Brandon Thompson, tired of the pounding punk and metal scene they had been a part of for years, decided to grab their acoustic guitars and harmonica, and just relax and write whatever came to them.

In summer of 2010, Chris ran into local drummer/town drunk Alex Parobec. After the first jam and seeing what each musician brought to the table, they knew they had a sound which was truly unique. With Brandon's ridiculous finger-tapping techniques, Chris's galloping acoustic riffs, and Alex's death metal-influenced drumming, they realized, "Shit, acoustic music fucking rocks." The hunt for a singer was on.

It was at the Commodore Open Mic Night in downtown Kamloops where Dead Ravens played their first show, without a singer. They stuck around after their set for a few beers when they saw Stephen Rozborowskyj step up to the mic and blow everyone away. A few face-melting solos and a cover of "Tweeter and the Monkey Man" later, they were hooked. The four musicians clicked right away.

Kicked out of numerous jam spaces and needing a place to play, they took to the streets in Chris's little white pickup truck, a generator, and played all over town uninvited and unannounced just for the sake of playing music to a live audience.

With a few "actually booked" shows and some hard-earned studio time under their belt, Dead Ravens continue striving to write new material and earn the respect of fans from all over. They have played with acts such as The Real McKenzies, The Malibu Knights, The Reason, and with The Dreadnoughts three times! They are constantly promoting their work to get a rise out of people, so if you see a white pickup with huge amps and a drum stool bungeed to the side, get ready for a show!!!
