Biography

Dead Smiling Pirates hail from Copenhagen, Denmark and they set sail on the musical oceans for a life of music piracy in the summer of 2005. This power packed trio plays catchy alternative rock filled with an eclectic mix of influences highlighted by lots of tight breaks, trashy guitar riffs, and punk influenced vocals. They back up their sound with attitude focusing on the irony of life, and lyrics about egoism, youth, work, ethics, and beyond.

This take on life is bound to appeal to young and old alike, with the prerequisite being your own punk like attitude and undying nonconformist view of life itself with dead aim at the modern day corporate establishment. If you feel this way give Dead Smiling Pirates debut CD release a good listen. If you do not share the same feelings, one listen to Dead Smiling Pirates and you will be a convert ;-)

Dead Smiling Pirates are a dynamic trio consisting of Kim Burmeister (vocals/ guitars), Erik Aaberg (drums), and Lasse Hansen (bass).

Kim began his musical voyage as a drummer then at the age of 15, he got his first guitar, and the drums began to collect dust. He has utilized the six-string as his main instrument for composing songs ever since. Kim’s sound is primarily punk rock and he uses that as a vehicle for his razor sharp sardonic point of view.

Erik got an early start as a drummer playing in various bands, always keeping an open mind to new inroads of musical styles while developing a distinctive blues sound that remains detectable in his playing to this day. Erik has combined all of his years and efforts into a powerful style of playing that supports and compliments the Dead Smiling Pirates hard driving sound.

Lasse picked up a bass at age of 16 and never looked back. He fell in love with experimental music and played in many art-rock and reggae acts before he started playing bass with Dead Smiling Pirates. Lasse is the perfect match for Erik’s aggressive attacking style and he completes the other half of the rhythm section that Kim depends on for his brawny guitar riffs to take hold.

The three pirates pump out their alternative rock sound out one track after another keeping your attention and interest from start to finish.

Strictly Ballroom

Written By: Dead Smiling Pirates

Too much tension here don’t forget to smile
Too much makeup yea, smile and wait a while
Oh my god oh my god they are losing losing yea
All is gone all is gone strictly ballroom yea

Safe me from this dance cause this dance doesn’t have a chance
Safe me from this place cause this place doesn’t have any grace

I want to rock ‘n’ roll i want to fuck it all up
I want to rip their clothes rip it all of
Oh my god oh my god they are losing losing yea
All is gone all is gone strictly ballroom yea

Safe me from this dance cause this dance doesn’t have a chance
Safe me from this place cause this place doesn’t have any grace

This place is so boring get ready now it’s so fake
Put on your happy face put on your mask

Safe me from this dance cause this dance doesn’t have a chance
Safe me from this place cause this place doesn’t have any grace
I am still living it out i am still living it out
I am still living it out i am still jumping around

Stealing Milk From The Kids

Written By: Dead Smiling Pirates

See you with the lonely guy oh he’s so week
Free drinks and beers for you that is what you seek
So you‘re helping the old man across the street
His wallet has gone now oh what a treat

Stealing milk from the kids have some fun and then eat their candy
Cause it’s bad for their teeth and you know we are stand up kind of guys
What’s in it for you, what’s in it for you
What’s in it for you, what’s in it for you

So you’re bying her drinks again oh you’re so nice
Cause you want something from her something between her thighs
She’s helping the old man across the street
His wallet has gone now oh what a treat

Stealing milk from the kids have some fun and then eat their candy
Cause it’s bad for their teeth and you know we are stand up kind of guys
What’s in it for you, what’s in it for you
What’s in it for you, what’s in it for you

I know you so well yea and you must admit
That you want to help yea when it’s in your own benefit

So you think you’re so kind so you think you’re so good
Really want to help now but what’s in it for you
So you think you’re so kind so you think you’re so good
Really want to help now but what’s in it for you

Stealing milk from the kids have some fun and then eat their candy
Cause it’s bad for their teeth and you know we are stand up kind of guys
What’s in it for you, what’s in it for you
What’s in it for you, what’s in it for you

Grounded

Written By: Dead Smiling Pirates

Just another weekend and you want to dance
Better ask your parents cause you want romance
Daddy is frustrated cause you’re all grown up
Mommy can’t take it cause you wanna rock

So you want it so you want it so you want it wanna run away
So you want it so you want it so you want it wanna run away

It’s so boring it’s so hard
You know you are grounded cause you made a fart
Oh so alone now in your room
All your friends are outside and you wanna rock

So you want it so you want it so you want it wanna run away
So you want it so you want it so you want it wanna run away

So you want it so you want it so you want it wanna run away
So you want it so you want it so you want it wanna run away

I 18

Written By: Dead Smiling Pirates

There is a chance, winning the lottery
And it is free, the transportation

Don’t You believe that I’m 18 yeaha
Don’t You believe that everything’s great on MTV yeaha
And you’er old wife is a sex machine yeaha
And all the banks are only here to help you

Out on the streets, people are so nice
So give war a chance, like in the 70’s

Don’t You believe that I’m 18 yeaha
Don’t You believe that everything’s great on MTV yeaha
And you’er old wife is a sex machine yeaha
And all the banks are only here to help you

Don’t You believe that I’m 18 yeaha
Don’t You believe that everything’s great on MTV yeaha
And you’er old wife is a sex machine yeaha
And all the banks are only here to help you

Get Hammered With You

Written By: Dead Smiling Pirates

I am starring straight out, oh so tall and proud
Lights are shining down now from the back yard
Could You beleave it’s true, need to get drunk with You
Oh oh oh oh

Hey I don’t know the world as You do now
Hey I don’t know if anyone could be here right now
I don’t know the world as You do now
Hey I don’t know if anyone could be here right now

Yes I love the city, as much as You do
And yes I’d like to go there I miss the open air
Could You beleave it’s true, need to get hammered with You
Oh oh oh oh

Hey I don’t know the world as You do now
Hey I don’t know if anyone could be here right now
I don’t know the world as You do now
Hey I don’t know if anyone could be here right now

I don’t know, I don’t know, I don’t know the world no no no
I don’t know, I don’t know, I don’t know the world as You do now yeah
Oh oh oh oh

Hey I don’t know the world as You do now
Hey I don’t know if anyone could be here right now
I don’t know the world as You do now
Hey I don’t know if anyone could be here right now

Hey I don’t know the world as You do now
Hey I don’t know if anyone could be here right now
I don’t know the world as You do now
Hey I don’t know if anyone could be here right now
Yeah
