Bio
A new sound has emerged from a candle-lit, gothic-style century home in the heart of Barrie, Ontario, and it’s taking on new victims – one at a time. This is the dawn of The Dead Starlets.
In the late, dark fall of 2006 Dead Starlets’ charismatic frontman Church and former band-mate and longtime friend Dan “Stella” Walker decided it was time to collaborate again and offer their unique blend of styles and influences to the masses. It was at this time that former Toronto music scenester Chris Naylor came onboard. His explosive guitar licks and influential song writing, added an orchestrated leadership to the rehearsal process. With songs beginning to take shape, The Dead Starlets’ sound and image crystallized. The line-up was completed with the addition of a locked-down rhythm section consisting of drummer Luc Loiselle and Dave Bodle on bass.
The spring of 2007 saw the band holed up in a recording studio with a bag of songs to choose from. The Dead Starlets emerged with a stunning demo that frames the band’s solidified sound. Their growing following has already recognized that their music combines the fury of The Sex Pistols and Nashville Pussy, the soul of Social Distortion, and the darkness of Ministry and Rob Zombie.
The Dead Starlets are currently preparing to take their captivating show on the road. If you get a chance to see the band live (or as Church prefers to call the shows ‘an experience’), let’s just say you won’t forget it any time soon.
