Alternative Hard Rock. One new fan who found us at the Miami Music Festival posted this to their flickr account-it pretty much sums up people's reactions when they first hear the band: "High energy, hardcore, intense rock and roll played from the soul."

Biography

Dear Dad, Yours Truly is an alternative rock band, based in Miami, Florida. Their unique sound is the product of a winning combination of diverse influences, backgrounds and collaborative songwriting. The band is: Daniel Rayon (vocalist), Daniel Cartagena (guitarist), Luke Rice (bassist), and Angel Delgado (drummer). Their current discography includes "Between Two Worlds" (2008) and "2009 Untitled Demo". The former was recorded with Grammy winning engineer Zach Ziskin.

From inception in 2007, the band started amassing a loyal following of fans and admirers, who refer to them as DDYT. They achieved first place/perfect score at Doral Florida's first annual battle of the bands in March of 2008. A few months later, June 12, 2008, was proclaimed Dear Dad, Yours Truly day in North Miami Beach by mayor Raymond F. Marin.

In the summer of 2009, the band signed a management deal with THe SPARK Artist Management. Shortly thereafter they recorded the music video for their song "Lost in the Archives". The video premiere was staged at the Hardcore Art Contemporary Space, in Miami's Wynwood Design and Arts district and included very well received live performances by the band throughout the night. The music video and its surrounding installation remained at the gallery for two months and was featured as part of the Wynwood Gallery walk for two consecutive months. They recently played three consecutive nights at the Miami Music Festival and continue to convert new fans at each performance.

Some of the South Florida venues they perform at include: Club Temple, Pulp Live, O'Malley's Pub, Revolution Live, Automatic Slims, Uva, Heathrow Lounge, Jazid and the Hard Rock (Hollywood, Florida), and Hard Rock (Miami), and Transit Lounge and live shows at malls which attract hundreds of fans. Additionally, they've headlined the following events: 2007-U.S. Coast Guard Station (non-profit troops benefit), Weston Fashion Show; 2008 Rock the Vote, Sky News (Live), Relay for Life (in every major South Florida city), 1st Annual North Miami Beach Community Festival, Las Olas Wine and Food Festival (American Lung Association), Doral 4th of July Celebration, Invisible Children awareness concert, Mast Academy school fundraiser; 2009-Revolution Live (Rock the Planet/Go Green), Tyler McLellan Foundation fundraiser,Florida International University Annual Fashion Show, Florida International University Dance Marathon, Humane Society benefit, University of Miami (music education benefit), Hard Rock Cafe (Bayside, USO benefit).

They were cherry picked by South Florida 93 Rock DJ, Spano as one of the most promising emerging rock bands from the area. They are featured as 93Rock.com's South Flocal Artist for a month beginning on October 16.
You can also find them on I Tunes and visit www.deardadyourstruly.com for more information and updates.

The band is currently touring and playing at Monster Jam events throughout Florida. The end of March they will perform a kick off show with the band Red in Atlanta before hitting the road with the rock band Tantric. Darker Shades of Grey

Gave you one more chance to say you love me, and save my heart
Though you’re close to me, well you seem so far, and I feel so ugly
Longing for direction like a sick infection
When I see your reflection in every window
The darker shades of grey, they say it’s time

Turn away from all the things that make you hate me more
Such a fine line, that I find, it’s time to close the door

I’m never gonna be, never gonna be the same
In this life without you
No more fantasy, trying to see a masterpiece
In a finger painting
The wine has turned to water,
The water don’t taste right
Though I wanna stay, I find I can’t
What an ending, what an ending

Once again we’ve come to the very end, nothing new
A promising start for a bleeding heart split in two
The darker shades of grey, they say it’s time

Turn away from all the things that make you hate me more
Such a fine line, that I find, it’s time to close the door

I’m never gonna be, never gonna be the same
In this life without you
No more fantasy, trying to see a masterpiece
In a finger painting
The wine has turned to water,
The water don’t taste right
Though I wanna stay, I find I can’t
What an ending, what an ending

Oh woah (x3)
I need the sun

I’m never gonna be, never gonna be the same
In this life without you
No more fantasy, trying to see a masterpiece
In a finger painting
The wine has turned to water,
The water don’t taste right
Though I wanna stay, I find I can’t
What an ending, what an ending

I’m never gonna be, never gonna be the same
Through these darker shades of grey
No more fantasy, trying to see a masterpiece
In a finger painting

Gave you one more chance to say you love me, save my heart

American Tragedy

Nothing here screams edgy
I see so many things
but what you've got inside you
is not the best that you can bring

Inside a hole for all you leave wasted
shines a light that you've never tasted
I pray to God I'm wrong
but so far, so far...

My love
you're an American tragedy
Basically an anomaly
brace yourself
and i'll try, i'll try
but nothing seems to help
wake up, wake up
save yourself
before you're just too late
before...

Don't be condescending
you know that I'm right
simple child, your evil smile
don't keep me up at night

They say what goes around will come get you
you'll be held accountable, bet you.
I pray to God I'm wrong,
but so far, so far...

My love
you're an American tragedy
Basically an anomaly
brace yourself
and i'll try, i'll try
but nothing seems to help
wake up, wake up
save yourself
before you're just too late
before...
before...

I will (stay)
you will (stay)
We will (stay)
Watch God (reign)
hey now, you're so typical
hey now, you're so typical
hey now, you're so typical
hey now, you're so typical

This is an emergency, don't run away
This is an emergency, don't run away

hey hey hey hey hey
oh, you go, I go

My love...
you're an American tragedy
Basically an anomaly
brace yourself
and i'll try, i'll try
but nothing seems to help
wake up, wake up
save yourself
before you're just too late
before you’re….
for your own sake.

The Final Hour

The Final Hour
Lyrics by Daniel Rayon
All Rights Reserved

Got 30 seconds left
Till the clock runs out
And I’m out of this
Pushed up against the line
With my fists held high
It’s do or die
Blood boiling in my veins
Already been hurt
So I don’t feel pain
The rain keeps coming down
With the way I feel
You better hope I drown

This dirty enemy
Digs up the beast in me
He’ll see the best of me
No more Mr. Sympathy

This is the hour
This is the hour
This is the hour you die
The final hour
The final hour
The final hour goodbye
(X2)

Got 20 seconds left
Till the clock runs out
And I’m off the list
So I’m calling out to you
Come, I’m calling out to you
Tonight you’ve met your match
No game, no rules, no catch
No, I’m here to take a stand
Like the average man
That you say I am

This dirty enemy
Digs up the beast in me
He’ll see the best of me
No more Mr. Sympathy

This is the hour
This is the hour
This is the hour you die
The final hour
The final hour
The final hour goodbye
(X2)

Just seven seconds left
As the clock runs out
And I catch my breath
Came close to the kiss of death
Now the king of kings has left

Easy to see
This is the hour
This is the hour
This is the hour you die
The final hour
The final hour
The final hour goodbye
(X2)

Goodbye, Goodbye (X4)
