"Vibrations 'Night Terrors' EP review"

"Deathretro seem to like mixing odd bedfellows. The name for a start. You’d struggle to describe them as ‘death’ anything, and at first glance I’m not getting retro either…

What you do get are some odd influences going on under the surface.

There’s indie rock, then it’s strains of Bowie, Talking Heads, The Stranglers, The Cure, The Pixies… It goes on. And this is a good thing. There’s something different from one moment to the next, but it’s all hung on a recognizable framework.

Interesting and individual, these tracks stick with you throughout the day. From the lyrical lethargy of ‘Butchers Hook’ to the shout-along punk sensibilities of ‘No Beauty in Routine’ Deathretro keep your ears peeled back and your brain awake."

Bio

Rolling down the Cumbrian fells, Deathretro combine a heady mixture of 'Xtrmntr' era Primal Scream, Soulwax & QOTSA - thumping beats, electronic rock soundscapes and state of mind lyrics made for the sweaty clubs and dancefloors.
Garnering a fierce reputation live, Deathretro shy away from rehashing old sounds and plough their own furrow.
They have recently launched underground live night KILL THE PROMOTER in Leeds, a monthly night curated by bands looking for something more than a usual Saturday night performance.
They are currently in the studio working on their debut album and have just completed the single 'Sound of Sirens' and are supporting The Sunshine Underground on their new album tour.
