"“Earth to Hell – 0.6 seconds via Deathtouch"

Yes you read it right – one-way ticket to HELL (in an awesome way!)--0.6 seconds.

Deathtouch has taken eastern North Carolina by storm – or to hell, whichever way you prefer to phrase it.

This death metal band with a touch of a punk and hardcore mixture hails from Greenville, NC. Forming only months ago, this band has bar-goers taking notice – and loving what they hear.

CJ Matthews, vocals, uniquely uses his sacrilegious attire to bring a weird kind of twist to his vocal demeanor. A screamer for the most part, his talents work well for the band. His stage, presence is one that you know he’s the front man but doesn’t overtake the limelight of his other band members. CJ uses his uniqueness to get the lyrics tossed from the stage and stuck in your brain --- Is this a form of brainwashing on a band level? Who knows, but it’s working!

Tim James, guitarist, has the knack for heavy dark-tinted riffs that make you feel the band’s vibes. If you close your eyes and listen with your soul, you’ll feel a passion for every note he plays. It not only makes you want to reach out and slap your momma, but in a strange sort of way calms your state of mind and puts you in a place you want to be. Using Tim as background vocals just heightens the lyrics CJ’s already embedded in your brain. Tim’s stage presence speaks for itself – you know he loves this music.

Deep moving bass lines make Davey Sutton, bass player, “the man of his craft. Watching Davey on stage you see a bass player that’s totally in the groove and a master of his realm. The bass lines are somewhat subdued, but not in a bad way. They meld perfectly with the guitar and the drums, bringing Deathtouch’s very full heavy sound full circle. He thrashes around like a guitar player – but with two less strings on his axe. I’ve never seen a bass player move so much –he’s the envy of many bands!

How can you describe a drummer that’s in a death metal band that can pull off vocals for a hip/hop song and not remotely seem out of place? Two words, Cliff Genthon. He may be a little guy, but he throws a mean power punch to the Deathtouch music. Cliff’s beats are on the money –hard, heavy and powerful bringing that extra-added bonus sound to their music. His vocals are enjoyable; a nice change up to show the band’s versatility.

Together, these four very talented musicians bring you the sound of Deathtouch – death metal at its finest; a sound not widely known around this area at this level, but mark my word – everyone will be trying to copy it in the near future!

Rounding out the band, I can’t forget their manager, Kelly Clark. Her total dedication, love and devotion to the Deathtouch musicians are beyond loyalty. Although Kelly’s just beginning to get her feet wet in music management, her heart and love for Deathtouch’s music and musicians is very much noted – she goes above and beyond most management teams already.

Last but not least – something I don’t normally do is mention the “significant others and friends of a band in a review. Not mentioning them with this band, it would be like a missing piece to your favorite puzzle. They are devoted to Deathtouch and its music to the max, as are their fans, which are the driving force behind the band’s great music. It’s these fans that the band brings on their roller-coaster ride from Earth to an amazing hell in 0.6 seconds and keeping them there for an eternity.
