Bio

When someone shows up with a broken nose to solicit you for a project, you tend to take them seriously. This is a situation I was placed in with Brandon Lupori (the injured) and Andrew Murzyn in early 2008. The two met at IPR in Minneapolis, while studying audio production, and planned to start a project with Andrew on drums and Brandon on vocals. After nearly two years of seeking guitarists, Brandon and Andy arrived at my apartment to ask if I was interested in forming Debbie Does Malice. After writing the first three songs we knew that this would be something far different than any of us originally intended.

After more than a year of experimenting and writing different styles of songs with different musicians, our line-up was solidified in late 2009. The two new pieces of the puzzle, Steven Lane on vocals and keyboards, and David Mudder on bass guitar, complimented our styles with Stevo’s relentless intensity onstage and in the writing process. David came from a series of amazing bands and layered a rich experience to the songs.

The intent of DDM was to welcome a wider perspective of genres and musical interests, and fuse them into a brutally melodic blend of emotion and agression. The premise almost sounds ridiculous. What do you get when you take a guitarist with too much music theory and jazz training for his own good, a bassist with the hardcore credentials of James Bond, a drummer with a technical interest in music that borders on obsessive, one neurotic and frantic writer and screamer of dark truths, and a vocalist/keyboardist with a voice so evil that it awakens demons to make him breakfast?

Indigestion; with a side of Debbie Does Malice.
Bon Appetit!
