Biography

My mom gave me my first guitar when I was 12 and she taught me the basic chords. That first guitar was a small body Harmony 6 string that I had to re tune every 5 minutes. I guess my frustration and dedication paid off, a few months later she bought me a little Martin NY. I still have that guitar and though my mom is gone from this world, she lives on in my music and every lick I play. Her encouragement, support and gentle criticism molded me and my music. I write and sing from the heart. Sometimes not as loud as she wanted me to but just as true.
We lived out in the country and there were no other kids to play music with so I developed a style of guitar playing/picking that fills in the gaps. Now with the addition of multiple track home recording I can put it all together. Thanks for listening. Deb

IRON MAN

(Am) You can (G) never (F) hurt him, he’s always (G) in the (Am) right
You can see his (G) armor (F) shining, in the blackness (G) of the (Am) night
His voice is (G) deep and (F) hollow, his heart is (G) cold as (Am) steel
He can (G) never hear (F) you or the cries of (G) your (Am) appeal.

chorus
(Am) He’s an ir(G)on (F)man, ir(G)on (Am) man, ir(G)on (F)man, ir(G)on (Am)man.

He’s the lord of our creations, the master of his race!
The ultimate solution to the problems that we face
Is he the lord of our creations or a demon straight from hell?
The ultimate solution….Our final….. farewell…

He’s an iron man, iron man, iron man, iron man.

You can never hurt him, he’s always in the right
You can see his armor shining, in the blackness of the night
His voice is cold and empty, his heart is cold as steel
He can never hear you or the cries of your appeal.

He’s an iron man, iron man, iron man, iron man.

Inst break

He’s an iron man…, iron man…., iron man…., iron man.

We beg and plead for safety and give up all our rights
Sit silent and complacent while others have to fight
You can never hurt him; he’s always in the right
You can see his armor shining,……. as he takes you in the night.

He’s an iron man, iron man, iron man. iron man.
He’s an iron man, iron man, iron man. iron man.

ANOTHER DAY GONE BLUE

Written By: DEBBIE FISCHER MORRISSET

Another day gone blue 1977 a g d or g f c

(G) Another (F) day without you
(C) Another (G) day gone blue
Will the (F)sun rise (C) tomor(G) row

Now the light is fading
And the night is waiting
To bring sleep and dreams of you

All my time spent alone
Clinging to conversations on the phone
Wishing you were here once again
Hoping for the night to never end

Oh the sun is rising
And my hopes are dying
Only shadows fill my empty room

And I start to wonder
About this spell I’m under
And the price I pay for lovin’ you

And I start to wonder
About this spell I’m under
And the price I pay for lovin’ you

The price I pay for lovin’ you.

CROSSROADS

CROSSROADS

Debbie Fischer Morrisset
January 2008
intro

The sky was clear and the sun was bright,
Sort of thing that happens in the dead of night.
Driving along the same old road
Drinking and crying not hearing what you were told.

Never saw the crossroads, never heard the warning
Never saw the crossroads, never heard the warning

Out of the blue and before you know it,
You're upside down and about to blow it.
Out of control you spin away,
Looking for the right words to say.

Never saw the crossroads, never heard the warning
Never saw the crossroads, never heard the warning

Standing alone in the dead of night
Wondering of you're strong enough to fight
Too scared to run too weak to stand,
She calls you home to her warm and loving hands.

Never saw the crossroads, never heard the warning
Never saw the crossroads, never heard the warning

inst break

A second chance to be the first,
Hard lessons learned are just the worst.
She's not alone she makes you whole,
Together you can heal your troubled soul.

Never saw the crossroads, never heard the warning
Never saw the crossroads, never heard the warning
Look for the crossroads, listen for the warnings.

“You’re Number One to Someone”

Written By: Debbie Fischer Morrisset

1. Sitting at the table car keys in her hand
Looking at the letter trying to understand
How can these words on paper make any sense?
They were hard and filled with anger like graffiti on a fence.
They were hard and filled with anger like graffiti on a fence.

Chorus: You’ve gotta do what you gotta do when everything goes wrong
Listen to your heart; keep on keeping on
Hold on to your faith; keep running in the race...
Cause you're number one to someone
You’re number one to someone.

2. Standing in the doorway of his little room
Looking at the baby you hum a simple tune
You look to find some comfort and your heart is filled with joy....
Cause you're number one to someone
You’re number one to someone.

Chorus: You’ve gotta do what you gotta do when everything goes wrong
Listen to your heart; keep on keeping on
Hold on to your faith; keep running in the race...
Cause you're number one to someone
You’re number one to someone.

3. How to tell your mama, how to tell your friends
Changes are a coming; some things have to end
You know hard times await you and you know you'll follow through
Cause you're number one to someone
You’re number one to someone.

Chorus: You’ve gotta do what you gotta do when everything goes wrong
Listen to your heart; keep on keeping on
Hold on to your faith; keep running in the race...
Cause you're number one to someone
You’re number one to someone;

Chorus 2: You’ve gotta do what you gotta do; gotta take a stand.
Love hard with your heart; work hard with your hands
And do what you are able to put supper on the table.....
Cause you're number one to someone
You’re number one to someone.

Cause you're number one to someone
You’re number one to someone.

Forgiveness is for Angels

Written By: Deborah Fischer Morrisset

I gave you my heart but you wanted my soul
When you left I lost all control
How many times do I have to say
if you go you'd better stay away.

Forgiveness is for Angels, I'm a sinner not a saint
Don't look back when you walk away
Leave the key by the gate, 'cause I'm not gonna wait
And tomorrow's a brand new day.

I lost all control when you walked away
Our vows couldn't make you stay
I stood alone in the pouring rain
and the water washed you away.

Forgiveness is for Angels, I'm a sinner not a saint
Don't look back when you walk away
Leave the key by the gate, 'cause I'm not gonna wait
And tomorrow's a brand new day.

You called out my name as I walked down the lane
I knew I'd never be the same
You stood alone in the pouring rain
and the water washed you away.

Forgiveness is for Angels, I'm a sinner not a saint
Don't look back when you walk away
Leave the key by the gate, 'cause I'm not gonna wait
And tomorrow's a brand new day.

You stood alone in the pouring rain
and the water washed you away.

No Spring or Summer
written by: Debbie Morrisset May 19, 2010 updated August 29-2011

Some dig for silver, Some dig for gold,
I’m stuck here diggin’ this dirty old coal.
My troubles are many, my pleasures are few,
I was so lonesome before I met you.

(Chorus)
Well it’s dark as a dungeon way down in the mine,
And the darkness is living and preys on your mind…..PAUSE
There’s no spring or summer, nor passing of time,
For the poor old coal miners workin’ the mine.

I’m down here diggin’ from morning till night,
I can’t remember when I saw the light.
I tell of our love to the coal digging crew
and how you’ll be waitin’ with supper and a brew.

My friends laugh and tease me when I speak of you,
Married after 2 weeks oh what a fool.
My doubts and my fears grow real in the dark,
What are you doin’ when we are apart?

Instrumental break of a sort.

My shift is over and she’s not waiting for me,
Something is the matter what can it be?
I run to our cabin and what do I see,
A man at my table sitting where I should be.

(Chorus)

The rest of my story is murder and blood,
My wife and her brother….. lay dead in the mud.
My life has ended in madness in death,
A miner forever who never can rest.

(Chorus)

My soul was tortured and sent down to hell,
I haunt the coal miners that I knew so well.
I wait in the darkness and whisper in their ears,
I teach ‘em the madness, I feed all their fears.

(Chorus)
slow ending
There’s no spring or summer, no passing of time
For a poor old coal miners haunting the mine.
