This CD is full of sass and laughter, as a delightful-and seemingly delighted-Hunseder skips between philosophical reminiscence and rocking celebrations of living every minute, right now. When Hunseder sings "good things are gonna surface," you just know that thay are. After years of part of the duo Halcyon, there's no question that she's having fun as a solo star. - Naples Daily News
Deb Hunseder...one of the bay area's finest singer/songwriters - Creative Loafing
Amanda: SURFACE is the perfect blend of songs that empower (A New Song), tug at the ol' heart strings (My Reward), and heal ( Goin' Thru the Motions). The vocals are strong and soulful, even a little mischievous at times...the lyrics full of incandescent wit. The CD has not left my player since I bought it.
Ragan: I loved this CD so much, I had to buy a 2nd copy for my best friend. The lyrics of these intriguing songs had me wondering if Deb had been reading my journal.
D: Deb is able to bring to life emotions and lessons and give it to us in a song. This CD has quickly become one of my favorites and you can no doubt feel the passion behind each song.
Erin: Deb shines on stage, her voice is honest, clear and powerful. Her quips in between well-crafted and insightful tunes keep the entire audience laughing. I wondered if her stage magic would translate...and the answer is a resounding YES!
Deb creates music that is not only enjoyable and consumable, but stuff that digs deep into the human experience.

...Hunseder, who calls St. Pete home decided to put together her first solo CD. It's called Surface and it's good:grabby pop tunes with a singer-songwriter basis, but a bit more of a rock feel than Halcyon. - Eric Snider Creative Loafing Tampa

Bio
Deb is 1/2 of the highly popular duo Halcyon. She's been performing with singing partner Stephanie Callahan since a chance meeting by a pool at a Holiday Inn in 1989 during a softball tournament sponsored by Budweiser. And so began the rock-n-roll lifestyle...
Deb is now stepping out on her own for her first solo project.
OK, so much for the third person narrative. I'll take it from here...Halcyon did it the old-fashioned way, one gig at a time. Sometimes having to change for the gig in a nasty gas station bathroom, sometimes having to stay in a flea-bag hotel, sometimes being put up in a suite at the Marriott. Awesome gigs, not so awesome gigs, smokey bars, Pride events, Olivia cruises, music festivals, Europe, Alaska, etc., all helped shape the professionalism I have acquired. That year in year out tenacity helped me gain the respect and appreciation of countless supporters.
I've had the good fortune of sharing the stage with many incredible musicians, including, John Mayer, India.Arie, Matchbox 20, Sister Hazel and Betty, to name a few.
Halcyon has had critical acclaim, won countless awards, and as flattering as all those accolades have been, that means blah, blah, blah to me. The most important part of this whole journey has been connecting with the many people, some of whom have become my friends, who spend their hard earned $ on me. I always do my best to never let them down.
