Biography

Don’t let the name fool you. Debra James is a rock band. The 4 piece rock outfit from Perth spent the last 18 months in the studio writing and perfecting their quiver of songs. Keeping quiet to the outside world, they were happy to work in solitude to create something, real, uninfluenced and raw. But now, having prepared themselves, they have come out of the studio, guns blazing. Equipped with a soon to be released CD and a head turning, emotive set that has audiences glued to the stage. Crowds are growing and word is spreading of the high energy, catchy, impressive rock machine that is Debra James.

The first offering from Debra James comes in the form of a self titled EP. Self produced and mixed by Adam Spark (Birds of Tokyo) the EP is the first taste of what Debra James is all about. To be released in October of 2009, this EP is a definite good first impression for listeners. And if first impressions are good to go by then Debra James is in a very promising position. The EP was written on the premise of ‘if it feels good, do it’. For this reason it takes the genre to places it does not normally venture, experimenting with sounds, instruments and structure on the basis of freedom. Already creating hype, this release is sure to do good things for Debra James.

Lyrics

One for the British

Written By: Debra James

I take a walk down town,
I'm a seeker in the big machine,
My hopes drivin me, But i can see,
That theres blood on my horizon,

The big lights lay before me,
Blown some chances,
But the beat goes on,
And i'm in between my shattered dreams,
And Shangri-Las new Dawnings

Just Wanted a tatse
i never really liked you anyway
When it ends, i Begin
And your bones are sands in my hourglass

Its a rush, my babe, its too much

Letting go is home to me
feeling nothing comes so easily
and the road is long
its the same old song
bitter empty is shaping me

When your the last man standing
all the better parts of you have gone
your miles away
theres nothing to say
cause your a stranger to yourself

I fell two times trying to reach the sky
Now im scared to take a chance
after all this time and im still behind
thinking when does it all end

Hi Top

Written By: Debra James

Come and drink it of your mind
all thats been eating you
sink enough so we all get lost
its been a while
we cared about the cost
snuck past midnight, ours,
they light the way
roll till the towns molested
good guy, good bay
its all in the shoes you wear
she's moving over to me

And all your heads are in the clouds
so careful, cause your feet still alsk the ground

im choking on your insides
when the bargains blooms
you be venus and ill be the night
let your warmth be my desire
stop drop roll and i put out the fire again
somehow its all connected
spread the gossip in all your dumb cafes the chitter chatter kills me

I Believe it'll make more sense on the road
packing all your troubles in the trunk of a car
dont even leave a note
to think about it wont get you far.

Run Baby Run

Written By: Debra James

And I'm always on the run,
try and blend into the crowd,
hearing the voice,
when you don't have choice,
and you can't understand all the spells that your under,

So melt me to the mold,
soon enough its getting old,
it's in your eyes,
all the time and your living a lie,
and you won't sit tight and I...

Run baby Run Baby run baby run
its a cold world,
its a cold place
when you aint got no body to take your place

And i needed you to say,
this is all that i can be,
there was a time when i thought you were the best
your bringing me down,
so leave it out
and its a coming away to get to me,
i've been drowning in your misery.
