Gignition is off to a pretty damn promising start if tonight was anything to go by sporting sundays best pluggers and a football teams worth of loyal fans, Northern suburbs 4 piece Debra James opened the evening with a tight set of mainstream rock. Altering the dynamic for the better was a quest trumpeter who joined the-lads for the last couple of songs. Whilst turning out songs is easy for these guys, they defiantly need to experiment a little more to develop 'a sound'. they could lose the mostly unused keyboard that took up perfectly good 'Rock Posing' space at the front of the stage. Debra James EP
Produced By James Croy and Debra James
Mixed By Adam Spark
Released October 2009

Don’t let the name fool you. Debra James is a rock band. The 4 piece rock outfit from Perth spent the last 18 months in the studio writing and perfecting their quiver of songs. Keeping quiet to the outside world, they were happy to work in solitude to create something, real, uninfluenced and raw. But now, having prepared themselves, they have come out of the studio, guns blazing. Equipped with a soon to be released CD and a head turning, emotive set that has audiences glued to the stage. Crowds are growing and word is spreading of the high energy, catchy, impressive rock machine that is Debra James.

The first offering from Debra James comes in the form of a self titled EP. Self produced and mixed by Adam Spark (Birds of Tokyo) the EP is the first taste of what Debra James is all about. To be released in October of 2009, this EP is a definite good first impression for listeners. And if first impressions are good to go by then Debra James is in a very promising position. The EP was written on the premise of ‘if it feels good, do it’. For this reason it takes the genre to places it does not normally venture, experimenting with sounds, instruments and structure on the basis of freedom. Already creating hype, this release is sure to do good things for Debra James.
