His Mother ‘Salley’ a singer also exposed Declan to the life of a musician and Instruments from an early age where he took to the drums and Guitar, singing to come later in his life.
During his high school years he grew up in Sydney’s Balmain were live music was abundant and a thriving scene made this village alive and a great place to grow up for a budding musician. Here he met Alex Lloyd and other musicians to form his 1st band “The Beefs” which went on to play in bars under age and also win a number of Band competion’s as they had a uniqueness in that they played Rhythm and Blues which most teenagers were unfamiliar with and performing music’s that were current.
It was when Kelly finished school that he was headhunted by one of the hardest working Rhythm and Blues bands ‘The Bond Cigars ‘ and immediately began touring rigorously and really honing his craft as a musician and then to be songwriter. He recorded an album with them before parting 4 years later in his early 20’s to form other bands and eventually write and pen his own tunes.
Having been the drummer for a number of great artists,Kelly learnt the craft of good song writing, recording authentically and the mastery of studio production, and the delivery of a rockin live show fronted by himself. This leads us to his very own debut album “Tales from the Neighbourhood” back in 2005.

Lyrics

i will never let you down

Written By: declan kelly

i will never let you down
i will never let you down here,
take my hand and lets walk away
i will never let you down.
i am not worried about a thing,
when i know you know,
its a two way street.
hand in hand,side by side,
round and round spinning like a 45
all i can do is shape my crooked heart for you, then i know for sure
that i will never let you down,
i will never let you down here
take my hand and lets walk away
i will never let you down.
sorrow,we take it to the shore,
and watch it float away
tomorro, come what may i dont know but it seems that your precious.
the seasons change and then i know that what we dont have,
we just cannot stop no,
so all i can do is shape my crooked heart for you
ten i will know for sure,
i will never let you down,
i will never let you down here.
take my hand and lets walk away,
i will never let you down.
its never too late to keep on this good thing,
i know i cant wait, for this good thing.
i will never let you down.

down that road

Written By: declan kelly

i aint going down that road no more,
too many people told me before,
now i done got wise to go back,
i aint going down that road no more.
darling believe me i aint no fool,
in the heat i aim to be cool,
i done got wise to ever go back,
this is why i aint going down that road no more.
you can go your own way,
if i follow i will surely pay,
i live my life day by day,
and that is the way it is going to stay.
take away your pain and suffering,
take it to a place where it wont be coming back again,
then you will see illusion disappear,
take away your pain and suffering.
i aint going down that road no more.

always the way

Written By: declan kelly

well theres a whole lot of talk
but not a lot to say
is'nt that always the way.

the hands on my clock they go tick tock,
i dont want to waste no time.
we make a break and the get stopped,
red light after red light,
holding us back,we better change direction,
and stay clear of this rattle and hum,
oh wont you come.
dont listen to the lies of the man with the devil in his hand,
it's so plain to see that they are talking silly believe me.
there is a whole lot of talk,
not a lot to say,is'nt that always the way.
walls can come up in our lives,
if walls can go up,they can come down, crashing to the ground,
falling falling away,
as we leave them for yesterday.
dont listen to the lies of the man with the devil in his hands,
its so plain to see they are talking silly believe me,
well the time has come for the second beginning,
and its so hard not to cry when we are taken for a ride, believe me.
there is a whole lot of talk, and not a lot to say,
isnt that always the way.
