Bio

These days, many think that creative ingenuity and corporate worship are mutually exclusive. Contemporary Christian music made with mass consumption in mind seems relegated to the same four chords wrapped in slight-of-hand packaging, and, unfortunately, worship music has not escaped this trap. But, as Declare believe, worship can be taken much further.

Consisting of members who, as individuals, are all worship leaders in their respective churches, it is no wonder that Declare as a group have their hearts set on authentic, unrestrained worship. Adam Hardegree (vocals, guitar) has been sharing his passion for worship in the local community for years, raising up budding worshippers and serving as a worship pastor at his church, while Ben Scott (drums, vocals) and Micah Nichols (guitar) have been lending their talents and enthusiasm to numerous churches and organizations locally and around the Southeast at camps and conferences. Joining them are Larry Duren (keyboards) and Larry Tran (bass).

If Declare succeeded only at spreading a passion for worship, they would be content, but as devoted artists, their love for music itself cannot help but find expression as they pour themselves out. Unsurprisingly, as worshippers, they find inspiration in the likes of David Crowder and Matt Redman, but their love of more eccentric artists such as Radiohead and Jeff Buckley seeps into their arrangements, leaving both the worshipper and the cultured listener satisfied.

Declare seek, more than anything, the reconciliation of true, passionate worship with eloquent artistry. Their devotion to God’s glory in music demands innovation, and they intend on nothing less.
