Decreased Fire Potential

A trio of fresh-faced girls with genuine camaraderie and a natural way of slipping into harmonies rooted in a folk and acoustic blues.

Three girls who just happened to be in the same dorm in their first year of university and shared the same love for music. One can definitely say the formation of DFP was a fluke. Going into the second semester of the three girls' first year, while doing laundry, Catherine, Misha and Anelise would sing together to pass the time. By the time their schools' annual talent show came around, they decided to audition and ended up placing third overall. Though they did not take home the grand prize the response from students was one of love and anticipation for them to perform again. So naturally, DFP started making regular appearances at their university's open mic nights. Towards the end of the semester they were asked to be the voices of a Florence and the Machine's 'Heavy in You Arms'. The recording went viral among friends and family. After a four month hiatus, DFP came back into the swing of things with more of a focus on developing an original sound and identity as artists. Approached by a fellow student who had DFP in mind while writing a song, DFP ended up recording their first original 'Moss and Leaves'. Faithfully performing at open mic nights, they ventured out to do their first off campus gig in Vancouver, BC. People have compared them to artists such as trio Mountain Man, Paper Bird, and The Head and the Heart. Gaining more experience through playing small venues, DFP is finding their niche in the folk music world. .
