"XIV Feature"

Dee Mash surfaced onto the scene a little over 4 months ago with the release of his ‘XIV’ Extended Play. Having remixed the likes of Knife Party’s “LRAD” and produced other original material in recent times, its fair to say the DJ/Producer from Chicago, Illinois is on an upward trajectory.

The EP itself includes 3 tracks which all fuse dubstep and harmony that is on an orchestral level. Not a combination you see all too often. Which makes Dee Mash’s future movements even more exciting.

Opening with a pulsating beat, the quick-firing, stabbing, chords surge to the forefront, creating a wall of energy as the sound-wave’s leave the speakers. With a further increase in intensity, the additional layers and isolation of sounds within the format make the orchestral break even more attention-grabbing.

Starting with purely harmonic vocals, the choir’s voices alongside tribal-like drums adds real atmosphere to the busy violin sequence. Transitioning through synths and tempo development, the second dubstep progression fuses with the soul-warming violin. Not ceasing to bring flare or surprise, the dynamic styling of “X” is in itself a reflection of the character of Dee Mash. Which as the name suggests isn’t exactly one to stick to one formulaic genre or sound.

Joined by “I” and “V” on the EP, “X” is certainly a token insight into the mind and talent of Dee Mash. And with 2016 fast approaching it’s fair to say We Rave You is excited to follow the young American’s development and material in the near future.

"Interview EDM Identity"

What was your inspiration in becoming a DJ?
Being able to control the energy, vibes, and feelings of all the people watching and listening to your music is I think what artist do, weather it is dancing, drawing or making music, you’re able to bring a certain feeling in your audience and to me that was the most inspiring thing.

Having a specific “sound” is important in the EDM world. What would you describe your sound as?
I don’t think I have a specific sound, or even a style. I actually believe that all artist make music that they like, and eventually their first “hit” song is the sounds they are tagged by, and of course a hit song is only chosen by their fans.

If you could play a b2b set with any artist, who would it be and why?
This is a tough one, I’ve always wanted to play old school records with Steve Angello.

Do you have a favorite event that you’ve been able to play?
Haven’t played enough shows to specify one favorite alone, but I am playing a show in Orlando in February which I’m very excited for, stay tuned for more details.

What about the Electronic Music Scene specifically speaks to you?
I like that there are no boundaries, allowing me to express my music in all sorts of ways, we have EDM artist scoring movies while some are making albums for Bieber, It’s evolving, fast.

If you could pick 3 artists to listen to for the rest of your life, who would they be and why?
3 Artists:

Steve Angello, because he is one of my biggest inspirations
Skylar Grey, I love her artistic views.
Tori Kelly because her and I are dating.

Which artist was your introduction to Electronic Music?
Daft Punk’s Alive Album from 2007 was one of the first that I can remember. After that I was hooked and discovered artists like Eric Prydz, Steve Angello, And Kaskade.

What is your favorite event that you have attended?
One last tour, Swedish House Mafia at United center with my best friends, one of the most memorable Wednesday nights ever.

What is your favorite ice cream?

"WILD Feature"

On the scene since 2013, Chicago based producer Dee Mash has released a handful of tracks explosive enough to gain attention from listeners both Stateside and abroad. He’s seamless ability to enhance EDM’s broad spectrum of genre’s has helped him gain attention from some of the industry’s biggest talents. Back with his newest release since his vocal original “Applaud” ft. Aline Renae, the young tastemaker gifts us with “WILD“.

A strong anthem compiled of heavy undertones and plucky electronic chords, “Wild” only further proves Dee Mash’s skills as a producer. With an almost videogame- like foundation, the single from start to finish is full of exciting buildups and melodic pickups. As the track gets closer toward the drop it picks up speed while giving a handful of instrumentals and chimes. The song as a whole pushes boundaries and creates an overall powerful aesthetic.

Tracks like “V”, “I”, and “X” make up the rest of this Chi-Town artist’s repertoire. Each unique in their own way, Dee Mash has been hard at work pushing material to get his name to the top of everyone’s playlists. Upcoming July tracks “Faces” and the massive remix of Win & Woo’s “I Need You” all come to light the end of this month. Also, keep an eye out for his original, “City of Dreams“, out everywhere mid September. - WeRaveYou
