"Deeds Of The Nameless – Enemy Within / Far & Away"

Some promising stuff from this young North London four-piece. While certainly not amassing to the sum of their influences (a list which, according to the band themselves, includes Nirvana, The Beatles, Queen and The Beach Boys), there is an undeniable charm about the restrained and composed energy which oozes out of Deeds Of The Nameless' leading single 'Enemy Within' – a tune bristling with infectious, indie-pop hooks. Sappy ballad 'Far & Away' is a less impressive affair, but saves face thanks to a guitar solo that just begs to be back in the 80s. And who doesn't love the 80s?

Bio

Deeds of The Nameless are a band, made up of brothers Ben and Richard Bueno, NEW DRUMMER and Steven Kennedy. Half the Deeds have already tasted chart success with their former band Serum - who garnered huge critical acclaim from the likes of Steve Lamaq, GLR, XFM, Virgin and Radio 1

The songs ˜Enemy Within/ Far & Away were both recorded at legendary U2 and Nine Inch Nails producer Floods studio and mixed by Chris Sheldon (Foo Fighters, Biffy Clyro). ˜Enemy Within is a powerhouse pop/rock stomper of a track with soaring vocals mixed with crunching Foo Fighter esque guitars and one of the catchiest choruses you’re likely to hear all year. The song has received attention on numerous television and radio stations including MTV2 and XFM and has seen the track take pride of place on Ian Camfields Rock Show. ˜Far & Away displays more of a melodic side to the band, with their powerful ballad.

At the start of 2010 The Deeds entered the studio with Mike Lawrence (Keane, Adele) and recorded two new tracks. The first “Journey to an Exit Wound” is an epic sounding track. With its crunching guitar riff it would take pride of place in any summer action blockbuster movie and is always guaranteed to get the crowd rocking out at their gigs. Whilst the bands Punk rock re-working of the recent Jay-Z classic “Run This Town” highlights the bands vocal dexterity a and abilty to deliver the unexpected.
