"Houston Press Awards Nomination (Best Pop/Rock Band 2003)"

As long as the chemistry between vocalist Jeff Crowder and British-born guitarist Rob Atherton continues to meld, Deep Ella should surface on some record label's radar soon - G. B.

"Houston Chronicle (September 2002)"

Deep Ella has carved out its own brand of sticky melodies that has people listening. - Maurice Bobb

"Houston Press (November 2002)"

With the loose, laid-back, bluesy feel that its name implies, local band Deep Ella succeeds by employing simple hooks and sweet, airy vocals that don't just speak of emotions but act as conduits for them.

"Afterall" is both the band's best song and the one most likely to make it to radio. It embodies all the qualities that make up Ella's best work: delicate music, moving vocals and a confident message buried beneath the uncertainty. - Ray Hafner

"mytexasmusic.com (August 2002)"

Deep Ella bring a fresh approach to today's music. Jeff Crowder, Rob Atherton, Jason Light, and Pat Murphy are Houston's best chance at Alternative Rock superstardom. Well penned lyrics, and masterful orchestration make this a great disc. - Lucky Boyd

"Sound Awake (August 2002)"

even a surface listen to last year's new thing tips you off that deep ella concern themselves more with actual content than windowdressing. "lynt", the acronymic title cut, sports a hook to draw blood. - Jeff Thames

"Houston Daily Cougar (October 2002)"

Local band Deep Ella has been doing something right in the past year. Being the first to sell out The Sidecar Pub, the band currently has a fan base larger than ever expected in such a short amount of time. The band has its foot in the door of something interesting. Combining a wide array of musical genres, the result of the conglomeration of harmonies and melodies is breathtaking.

- Shiley Carter

Flowing effortlessly through many styles and nuances this bands leaves an impression on the listener that they love what they do. Reminiscent of a postmodern version of U2 or Live with a hint of English rock sensibilities with songwriting, which is thoughtful and decisive, this is a good solid rock album from a good solid rock band. The playing is top shelf and the vocals are pretty exceptional…March 2004 Band of the Month Silver Dragon Records
