Listening to The DeepEnd is like getting slapped in the face with the funk stick...it should hurt...but you can't get enough.

Biography

The DeepEnd are a jam-jazz-funk sextet from Richmond, Indiana, the birthplace of recorded jazz!

For the last 7 years they have been honing their chops, and refining their grooves, while searching for a talented singer who could both keep up with them, and allow them space to build a jam. In 2006 Megan Eversol joined the group. Her beautiful, soaring vocals now adorn the sometimes finely carved, and other times raw and powerful creations of the band. A short while after Megan came sax-man Jason Carter who's solid harmonies, and evocative melodies combine with the earthy and soulful trumpet playing of Aaron Nell. Brian Dannaker's unique and diverse guitar playing, and Craig Wynne's funkdafied bass grooves create rich rhythmic atmospheres that only Brian Elstro's tightly knit and expressive drumming can compliment.

These six ingredients combine to create a thick stew that both melts in your mouth and kicks you in the teeth!

Don't Wanna Talk About That

Written By: The DeepEnd

all these Dallas terminals are singing their own songs
about the day you went away, said you're never coming home
there are a few things I could tell you if I could tell you in your terms,
but all these terminals and terminals are speaking in actions instead of
words

but you really don't wanna talk about that
you really don't wanna talk about, talk about that

buses moving people talking on cellular telephones,
getting closer running away from the places they call their homes,
if voices were the answers then all I'd get is dial tones
and all these terminals and terminals singing to me in these vagrant songs

but you really don't wanna talk about that
you really don't wanna talk about that
you really don't wanna talk about how the people pass you buy so I, guess
that I won't talk about that
you really don't wanna talk about that

one step, two step, three step, four
wallet, smokes, keys and I'm out the door
buses don't come around here tonight so I guess that I might try

but you really don't wanna talk about that
no you really don't wanna talk about the life you left behind
so I, guess that I won't talk about that

Through The Spaces

Written By: The DeepEnd

it's been one time too many that I'd like to take your mind,
roll through and go on swimming and tuck myself deep inside,
your light post that I've been missing, when all I want to feel its warm
shine,
pull it back and send it spinning, through the space that has held this
night

and oh you say, sway please don't
and oh you say, oh you say, say please don't, and oh you say

there's a way
there's a way
when you need it all, then you've got it all
there's a way
there's a way
when you need it all, then you got it all that way

there are footnotes on the footprints leaving a piece of yourself everywhere
you been,
but my eyes will never be quick enough to catch you when you're moving in,
and out of focus this dream I dare to fall back in,
then you're over and then you're under, lord you're gone again

there's a way
there's a way
when you need it all, then you've got it all
there's a way
there's a way
when you need it all, then you got it all that way

Matchbox Slow Dance

Written By: The DeepEnd

it was a, hot-cold Tuesday night
but the moon was out and I was feeling alright she said
hey didn't you read the signs, I got two for one and it's all half price
and if you've got a friend, I got some for you and some for them
but nothing's coming down and nothings going in
slow down what you heard
giving to me what I give to her
matchbox slowdance so secure
I never met one quite like you before

long she's taking me,
long I'm taking her

eyes wide, jaw drop to the floor
pull your paisley through my front door
she said something to me about a trip to the stars but she can't walk
straight and I lost my car
falling up the stairs with a matchbox-slow dance and she don't care
if nothing comes in but miss Polly fair, then I can't complain cuz I
wouldn't know where
to put my I love you, with a matchbox-slowdance and not a clue
some people fall in love with nothing to prove, but Polly's pushing peddles
with her tired old shoes singing

long she's taking me, long I'm taking her, longs she’s taking me, for
everything I'm worth
puts my matchbox in her pocket, lord she's nothing of this earth
