Bio
When the members of Deep Shades Of Purple met, from all corners of the Chicago area, they made a commitment to bring this music alive again. Maybe they aren't quite as loud as the original Deep Purple, but DSOP brings all-out energy and devotion to their love of this music.
Members - Deep Shades Of Purple
Shane Mann Ruff earned the role of "Ritchie Blackmore" by faithfully studying EVERY album track and live guitar solo from his complete collection. Shane is also the mega-historian for the group - he seems to know the oddest things about DP.
Gary Messling not only plays the powerful Hammond organ and piano with his proficient chops, but with wrenches and other improvised tools - just as "Jon Lord" did in the early days. Gary tunes and repairs pianos and organs for a living, keeping the ferocious Hammond and Leslie organ sounds alive for Deep Purple fans.
Jeff Carlson lays down the low-end pulse of bassists "Roger Glover" and "Glenn Hughes". Jeff enjoys building bass guitars for various projects and is an endorser of Chicago manufacturers David Nordschow Amplification (DNA Amps), Eden amps, and Lakland basses. Jeff is also the bassist for 60's and 70's classic rock & soul dance band "The Crew".
John Schmitz is the formidable "Ian Paice" on Slingerland drums who skillfully keeps the Deep Purple freight train on the tracks.

Scott Albrecht has both the vocal edge and fortitude to tackle the impossible larger-than-life role of "Ian Gillan". More...
