Discography

DEER MURRAY is a Mexican-Canadian band of “dream pop” with some elements of shoegaze, formed in 2011 for Laura Demers and Omar Estévez.
Laura´s preferences are 90´s hip-hop, musical theater songs and punk and for Omar are the post punk, 80´s pop, and shoegaze.
The sound is eclectic but its conducting line is pop. However the vocal arrangements are not exaggerated just like common singers. Laura´s voice surrounds you into an atmosphere that shines and hugs you leading you to a strong melancholy, you feel it, it opens all around you so you can levitate while the guitar’s melody stays in your head all day.

Bio

DEER MURRAY is an example of the current world, where the young go beyond the national frontier to diffuse and achieve an identity about the experiences they are facing. Omar Estévez is the guitarist and composer of the band he met Laura Demers, the singer in Toronto, Canada. They identify themselves through music and what they want to transmit through it. The way they met is the way the world is rotating.

The national identities little by little are disintegrating; the world is connecting through the media where the youth takes control. Their feelings are full of idealisms as well as realism; when these two concepts are transmitted provoke identities.

After been a member fundator of some bands in Mexico, Omar Estévez, takes the decision to go to Toronto, Canada where in a few time meets Laura Deamers. Both decided to create DEER MURRAY and in February 2011 they started to record their first demo.
They worked in their songs, finally at the end of 2012 they recorded their first E.P. called “Songs from an Apartment” with a little of synthpop-rock, and the support of a director and drummer Francisco “Birdo” Fuentes, with whom they filmed three of the first videos been the first single “Thursday”. This first material was edited by Molécula Récords, an independent label in Valencia, Spain and Mexico, City.
