Defenestrate-tr.v.//To throw out of a window. Combine the innovative pop sensibilities of Radiohead with some John Coltrane Quartet, Steve Reich, and Indian Metric Aesthetic and you might get close to imagining the sounds that come from Defenestrate Time.

Biography

After studying music in India, Guitarist/Vocalist James Martin began to collaborate with Jazz/Punk Drummer Dave Millman and Latin/Jazz Bassist Kevin Reilly to write songs that threw time out of the window. What ensued are songs that offer poignant harmonies and new perspectives on what pop can be.
Members of Defenestrate Time have shared the stage with: G. LOVE AND THE SPECIAL SAUCE, DEREK TRUCKS BAND, ADDISON GROOVE PROJECT, THURSDAY, THE MELVIN SPARKS BAND, ROBERT WALTER'S 20TH CONGRESS, and more!!

Lyrics

12:15 [an instrumental of epic proportions]

Written By: James Martin/David Millman

12:15 is an instrumental...so there are no words!!

But there are a couple of things I 'd like you to know (if you want to read, that is).

!2:15 is a study in odd-meter.

The beginning is a sequence with phrases of conseciutive measures in 12/8 and 15/8.

What follows is a mellow sojourn into 4- then some drum painting.

We then go on a spacy fantasy with phrases in consecutive measures in 10/8 and 12/8.

Then there is a bass solo in 6/8.

Turn up your bass for this section's surprise transition to a rocking 4/4.

Then we really defenestrate time with a full-out time warp-rewind into a 6/8 pastoral outro.

Peace and blessings!

Verse 1:
Rise and shine- we've got all of this time
Gather your images from your dreams
Now's the time- awake your mind
Now your dream can wake from sleep

CHORUS:
Take this day and go away
Run with your visions out of time
Quick escape the grey of day
Make the sun come out and shine

Verse 2:
Don't you hate, don't bite the bait
Down that road there's only pain
The wisest eye is in thine mind
Seas, and stars, adn skies so great

CHORUS (repeats)

BRIDGE:
The lie is that there is a top
Happiness finds you in your heart
You climb you bleed you cannot stop
Results are what you fear the most
Come down and metamorphosize

Verse 1 (repeats)
