Lyrics

My Baby Does it For Me

Written By: Mike Aljadeff

Well my baby don't have a care in the world
Puts her feet on the table, stays home from work
Has a bag of Beef Jerky watchin' Monday ball
Wears all my clothes, cause one size fits all
She keeps her head on her shoulders, and her heart on her sleeve
Maybe that's why baby does it for me

Yeah my baby just loves to drive my car
Puts the pedal to the metal, till we've gone too far
Takes the roadmap and throws it into the lake
Then we make love till the daybreak
She keeps me on my toes, until I'm down on my knees
Maybe that's why my baby does it for me

So Hey! Hey! What's that ya say
There she goes my Beverly
Hey! Hey! I think that she's the one
Heeeey!!

Yeah my baby takes what she can not afford
She likes to break the rules but still prays to the Lord
And every once in a while, I can hear her say (pray)
"Lord take what I got, but don't take my man"
I'm everything she's got and everything she needs
Maybe that's why my baby does it for me

Mrs. Me

Written By: Mike Aljadeff

20 years our friends have come and gone,
But we stayed side by side
From tire swings to college flings
It's always been "us"

All this time I've crafted all my life
For just this moment here,
And you're listening, and suddenly,
I can't even think

CHORUS
It seems so crazy wondering now
Though it makes perfect sense somehow
You're just the end my story needs
Will you be Mrs. Me?

Baby you'd love the life I'm thinking of,
Cause I'll be an easy love
You'll feel it in the breeze
I promise you

And if you were a part of me
I swear I'd give you all of me
And hold you till you know
What we are doing is right

CHORUS

You'll never have to change my darling
For though you share my name
You'll always be that girl who didn't mind
To dance alone out in the rain

20 years I've crafted all my life,
For just this moment here,
And you're kissing me,
And suddenly, it's easy to breathe...

Alive and Well

Written By: Mike Aljadeff

There are times in your life
When you need a friend
And you just can't pretend
That you don't

It's very easy to tell
When you're feeling down
But when you think there's no one around
Their standing right beside you
Getting by just like you
Making the best of it

CHORUS
Hey, hold up your head,
Cuz you're not dead yet
You're just misled
Hey, hold up your smile
You're still alive
Alive and well
Alive and well

It's getting easy to hide
Pity keeps you warm
Churning up the storm,
deep inside

But all the battles ya lost
Are so far away
Like looking out from a flying plane
Everything is gonna fade
Now you're bound somewhere good
Feelin' the way you should

CHORUS

Well you're better now, and dusted off
You've done your time, but now it's starts again
When someone else puts on the shoes you threw away, you've gotta fill them in
And so you say:

CHORUS

Not Gonna Do a Thing Today

Written By: Mike Aljadeff

Woke up cold in summer sweat
Had to peel the blanket off my chest
Looked around I should have guessed
Nothing changed

Plugged the shower, and took a bath
Walked around in morning rags
Took my time to pour a glass of
Boujeauleix

I'm getting tired, of the old "nine-to-five"
For just today, I'm the man in charge

CHORUS
Gonna let my day go by
Without a wrong, without a right
Gonna keep it black and white
And waste the while away
I'm not gonna do a thing today

Rolled a chair down the wooden floor
Never knew it creaked before
I sat still and laughed all morning
Wonder why.

I often wish, I could simply "exist"
No clocks to punch, or a daily list

CHORUS

BRIDGE:
Somehow, all my worries seem to make me
Smile now, hope this lasts forever

CHORUS

OUTRO:
Not gonna do a thing today
Gonna let this day go by
Forever
I'm gonna keep it black and white
Waste my time
Gonna let this day go by
Forever
I'm gonna let this day go by
Go on and on

August Love

Written By: Mike Aljadeff

Saturday, it was late, probly' quarter to three, she's at the Dog House
She was standing alone, just like two years ago, when we met

I bought her a drink, that would say "remember me?"
She put (raised) it to her lips and they widened a bit
And then she called my name
"Funny, seeing you again"...oooh

CHORUS:
We were an August Love
Spent the nights together in her Minibug
Top down, and wishin on the stars above
But we've moved on
And though the summertime was
I'll always remember my August Love

So I said "where ya been?", she said "where do I begin? It's been a while now"
But it's more of my taste, to get right to the chase, Yeah she knows,

We got in my car, I put on her favorite song,
She still knew all the words, so we both sang along

And then the velvet sky, brought me back in time
Oooh

CHORUS

BRIDGE:
Sounds of laughter was makin us play
And drunken by the hours, I said some things I used to say
I held my fingers to her lips, only to replace them with a kiss
Ooooh

We're just an August Love
Spending nights together in her Minibug
Top down, and wishin on the stars above
And we'll move on
But till' we find somebody good enough
We'll always have a little August Love

Let the Days Come

Written By: Mike Aljadeff

Saturday, yet another day for games
As we plenty ourselves with the truth in our names
And we could stare for miles down the shore
And hope that one day we would grow to see more

So when did I miss all the places
And all of the faces I see?
They were once talking to me

CHORUS
As we let the days come
And wash away the hours
And envy the fields
And the afternoon flowers
As they spend their years under the sun
And it seems our lives have just begun

A silent breeze that seeps into our memories
Till you're carried on a ride and for you everything subsides
Around the bigger things, they don't need you anymore
You may wave and turn your head to all the things you were before

So when did I miss all the places
And all of the faces I see?
They were once talking to me

CHORUS

BRIDGE:
To all the years we say goodbye
Close our eyes, take the dive
For our wings have learned to fly
Woah, woah

CHORUS
As we let the days come
And wash away the hours
Envy the fields and the afternoon flowers
As they spend their years under the sun
And it seems our lives have just begun

Have just begun…

Looking for Lisa

Written By: Mike Aljadeff

Heading toward the field
The corn has grown yay high
It's been so long since you've been gone
But we'll be here all night

Walkin through the weeds
Each step a mystery
700 weep

CHORUS:
Cos' we are looking for (Lisa we're looking for you)
Don't know where she's gone (Lisa we're looking for you)
We are looking for (Lisa we're looking for you)
We just want her home
We just want her home

Another day you'd be here runnin'
And sweating summers gold
It's mid-July the sun's ablaze
And still we feel so cold

Walkin through the weeds
Each step a mystery
700 weep

CHORUS:
Cos' we're lookin for (Lisa we're looking for you)
Don't know where she's gone (Lisa we're looking for you)
We are lookin for (Lisa we're looking for you)
We just want her home
We just want her home

BRIDGE:
And your sister's they cryin' in bed at night
And your boys are lost, they don't know who to fight
Cause Daddy can't teach em' what's wrong from what's right

CHORUS
