"With Adammo something happened that happens to all young bands: we had the need to find new things, every man for himself," says Renzo Bravo from Los Angeles, a city that lives for a few months. "I came to study and start a career as a composer and producer, could not imagine having a band," he adds, and then tell the project that his friend Nicholas Caceres already had a couple of years ago and he joined: the Defiant Lion.
Make no mistake. Defiant the Lion departed considerably from the pop rock sound of Adammo. Renzo and Nicholas have achieved musical maturity of the hand of their fellow Americans Kyle Buckley, Ryan Wood and Chris Wood. They just released three songs: "The Fight", "Summer" and "Hills of Virginia", which will be part of their first EP which will be released in the second half of the year. "We want to show what we have, our sound people submit a letter of proof. Happily went well, many have begun dating shows, "said Bravo, who a month ago debuted on stage with the band at the House of Blues in West Hollywood.

An email invitation included an alert to the song “Hills of Virginia” by Defiant the Lion. The invitation included a link that sent us to a Youtube video for the song. The first few seconds brought a crisp guitar with a Johnny Cash feel. Then, the vocals entered. Good news, there’s at least one band member with a good voice. After a few more seconds, the song became better yet, as more distortion-free guitars joined. We are not in the camp that pines for those days when distortion of any type was considered a negative to music. Particularly in a live setting, intentionally induced distortion can play a very positive role. Still, our preference is aligned with the cleaner guitar sound of Defiant the Lion.
Defiant the Lion is a five-piece band based in Los Angeles, California. The members are Kyle Buckley (lead vocals), Nicholas Caceres (guitar), Renzo Bravo (bass and backing vocals), and twin brothers Ryan Wood (drums and backing vocals) and Chris Wood (guitar and backing vocals). Defiant the Lion is a rock band based out of Los Angeles, CA. Members include Kyle Buckley, twins Ryan and Chris Wood, Nicholas Caceres, and Renzo Bravo. Combining Latin Grammy nominated pop musicians, a pop-punk twin duo, and a small town songwriter creates the sonic essence that Defiant the Lion is.
In 2014 the band released their first single ‘The Fight’ alongside its music video paying homage to John Carpenter’s “They Live”. The single pertains to the duality of sacrifice and reward the entertainment industry teases most struggling artists with. Being a fan of the cult classic, Director/Writer Bryce Olejniczak conceptualized it as an appropriate theme for the video considering it dealt with perception, reality and humor.
Defiant the Lion has recorded and will be releasing 3 digital singles and one physical EP by summer 2014.
