Defused

“We have a lot to live up to, not just from other people but from ourselves” explains Defused founder Michael Hicks. Defused is an instrumental rock band that was started back in 2006 by Hicks, he spent the next three years writing and recording three album’s worth of material. “It was just me messing around really, after I met Brock I pretty much knew where I wanted Defused to go”. In 2008 drummer Brock Baltzell joined Defused and, alongside Michael, wrote and recorded the majority of the 2009 release “The Point of Beginning”. The CD received critical acclaim from several media outlets and the songs “Tonight, It Ends” and “Time” were heard by thousands of listeners worldwide on the online radio station Distortion Radio. From having their email inbox flooded each day from fans when the CD was first released to beating out signed bands like Foo Fighters, Paramore and Lostprophets in radio play charts the expectations for the band are understandably high.

Defused is now in the process of recording a new CD entitled “An End to Corruption”. “The title in a way refers to how under extreme conditions things become corrupted. A person’s emotions can become corrupted if they feel too much pain and a politician can become corrupted if they have too much greed or pressure. There’s a whole bunch of topics like that I think the CD touches.” The new CD can be expected to be full of electronic influences but still keeping the vibe that brought Defused to the attention of many people worldwide.
