Bio
Deja Voodoo was formed in 1993 as a recording project which led to many self-produced shows and events. All featured poetry, art exhibits, and dancers as well as the musical performances. Falling somewhere within the folk sounds of Paul Simon and Joni Mitchell, with nods to Vashti Bunyan and Joanna Newsom, and touches of a Bright Eyes hominess, I mainly hone in on drony folk-vibes or mid-60s folk-pop structures to get the simple messages across. I'd say these messages include the value of friendship, a striving for the beautiful in this world, and the falling-down-on-your-ass part as well. It's a human project in the vein of Dr. Suess' extraordinary work and words, which I believe are valid lessons for a possibly better world...like "one fish, two fish"...it really can eventually all gonna be OK, you know?
