Bio

Since their inception in 1999, Delicious Trees have compiled an extensive catalogue of music ranging wide in style and dynamic emotional content. Contemporary comparisons have included such bands as Wilco, Belle and Sebastian, and The Shins. They have performed at such legendary venues as the Knitting Factory in New York and Maxwell’s in Hoboken. Along with club dates, the band has enjoyed outstanding receptions from larger audiences at colleges and music festivals throughout the US.

Delicious Trees’ first EP “On the Air”, was recorded during a live radio performance in 2001 at the State University of New York, Stony Brook. The DT’s completed their first full-length album entitled “Be Dreaming” in 2004, and are currently playing in support of this release. The concept of “Be Dreaming” is what member/producer Scot Gropper, describes in a 2003 interview as “sounding like a great mix tape of a bunch of different bands, like the White Album, where each song is distinct to itself more so than the band or the album. The only way putting ‘Be Dreaming’ together made sense was to sound like twelve different bands. All the tracks were recorded at different times (1999-2003), using varying recording equipment, techniques and locations, giving it that mix tape feel”. This philosophy is in essence what makes Delicious Trees so interesting in their live approach. Moreover, it is that appreciation for the diverse that will enable the listener on any given night, to receive guitar-driven rockers, country ballads, a Middle Eastern instrumental, and loads of indie pop gems.
