Del Suggs

BandPopAdult Contemporary

Del Suggs performs at colleges, universities and festivals across the US. Described by Performing Songwriter magazine as "Jimmy Buffett jamming with the Indigo Girls and James Taylor," he calls his musical style "Saltwater Music: a combination of acoustic rock, pop, and blues... with a sunburn."

Biography

Remember the first time you heard James Taylor... Arlo Guthrie... Jackson Browne... Tracy Chapman... Indigo Girls... Norah Jones... Jack Johnson. These artists span the past forty years, but they have one thing in common: they are all originals. They do their own music their own way. They have a point-of-view, and they grab their audiences with their music and presence.

Del Suggs is cut from that same timeless bolt of cloth. He, too, is an original.

Del's show contains favorite songs from his own recordings, along with the music of his peers. The style is contemporary acoustic-- an upbeat, spirited style which is powerful without being overwhelming. In between the songs (and sometimes a part of the songs) are the stories; mostly funny, sometimes heart wrenching, but always thought provoking. That's because Del believes you can laugh and think at the same time.

Del tells stories of life and love on the coast, bluewater sailing and beach party bonfires, and those absurd events which occur in life. In O. Henry fashion, every story has a twist, and serves both to introduce the songs and to rivet the attention of the listener. They also tend to be very funny.

Del has a personality and a style which quickly befriends the audience. Intelligent, upbeat, and funny, Del commands the stage in a manner which makes any audience feel comfortable and at ease. A blend of humor, insight, and wonderful music, Del Suggs is a rare contemporary artist.

Del's show may take you through a gamut of emotions, but leave you feeling good. You may even be inspired. But two things are certain. You will have a wonderful time; and, you will look at the world a little differently than you did beforehand.

Del Suggs is an original. His continued success is a reflection of the broad appeal and timelessness of his music. Del is one of those individuals who comes on stage as a stranger, and leaves it as a friend. That is truly a rare gift.

Set List

Del's set consists of his own songs along with the select covers from his contemporaries and his influences. In addition to his own crowd favorites (Magic Chair, Wooden Boat, Refrigerated Air, etc.), he's likely to play acoustic versions of classic rock songs like "Pinball Wizard" or "A Whiter Shade of Pale." Or how about "Waiting In Vain" by Bob Marley-- or Pink Floyd-- on the ukulele? You might also hear anything from "Shennandoa" or "The Water Is Wide" from folk music americana to a James Taylor or John Mayer cover. While Del is a singer/songwriter, it's entertaining the audience that matters.
