World, meet Deluka: we suspect they may soon be your favourite band. Their danceable, hook-packed, attitude-laden sound impacts like a sharp slap in the face. Landing amidst a flurry of indie crossover acts, this Birmingham fourpiece are currently taking on the new wave of electro heads with their second limited edition single, "I'll Wait", and a tour with dates in Paris and Berlin.
But Deluka are keen to insist that they're not nu-rave: "There seems to be a kind of zeitgeist in indie music at the moment," says bass player Daniel Brasco. "Everyone wants to make music upbeat and danceable again, following a surge of White Stripes inspired bands a few years ago. A lot of acts are using electronics in various ways, which is something we've always done."
"You certainly won't catch us jumping onto any bandwagon," adds guitarist Kris. "We just want to have fun."
Released earlier this week, "I'll Wait" is all distorted guitar riffs and analogue synth. There's no faulting frontwoman Ellie Innocenti's impeccable vocals, which recount the tale of a friendship gone wrong over layers of subtle synths. B-side "Sleep Is Impossible" is equally impressive, the most recent in a line of newly-produced tracks – be sure to also check out "Flashbacks" and "Finito". As part of a genre in which remixes make as much impact as the originals, we reckon they're just waiting to be tampered with. In the best way possible that is.

Deluka are an English electronic indie band, whose sound has been likened to nearly every genre from Punk to Disco, Electro to indie and New Wave to No Wave. Deluka’s fresh new sound is the eclectic evolution of Birmingham’s storied pedigree, a perfect storm of fluid electronic beats and hailing rock riffs, pulsating bass and breathtaking vocals.
Following early praise from UK indie music bible the NME and trendsetting culture mag Dazed and Confused, Deluka inked a deal with Brooklyn indie label VEL Records releasing a 5 song EP in the summer of 2009.
Since then the single CASCADE has been on the Alternative radio top 100 for 10 weeks, the video winning MTVu FRESHMEN 5 with the Rapture remix scoring top 10 on RCRDLBL
“Sleep is Impossible” was tapped for Rockstar Games wildly popular Grand Theft Auto IV, and 3 songs have landed MTV placements (the hit show The City, and the VMA’s). That along with 110 stations adding the record at college, has gotten Deluka a quick start culminating in a deal with RCA/RED for the release of their debut full length LP.
