Demevolist Music

Demevolist Music started with a purpose to bring realism to the music industry. CEO Howard J. Burke, a hip hop enthusiast, established it in 2005. He graduated from Fredrick Douglas Academy (a college preparatory school) in West Harlem, New York, but not before making his impact. While a student at the academy, he sought to raise money to build a recording studio in his high school. He developed various presentations and proposals aimed at building this studio, but to no avail -- at least not right away. His principle turned him down numerously, but Howard remained persistent. Fredrick Douglas Academy had a stronger focus on bridging academic achievement than musical greatness, but this didn’t stop Howard. His principle finally gave into a young man’s ambitious dreams.

"My presentation got better and better because he kept shutting me down. Finally, he folded and the HBO people cut a check."

Opening a recording studio within a high school was like a pipe dream for most people, but many young and talented MCs found refuge there, making music and history happen. One in particular being Charles Hamilton (former Interscope Records recording artist), who recorded most of his earliest records there; later catching the attention of all major record labels. He decided to sign a speculated deal with Jimmy Iovine.

"The control of music belongs to the people not some industry that feels like they are always right. Art is how you feel. It should not be directed unless you want it to be," stressed Howard Burke.

The name Demevolist catches the eye of many people and everyone seems to wonder about its origin. Well, it’s a made up name that means “the select few”, which suits the music perfectly. “We set out to be the new faces in the industry," says Burke. Simply put, it cannot be defined by Webster or any other dictionary for that matter, but can be defined by you.

DM was created to bring not only new flavor to the music scene, but something completely original and unheard of. It’s easy to follow the latest trends, but creating them is where it can become difficult. Attracting followers is on a level that Demevolist strives to reach by producing and seeking out nothing but superlative sounds. A sound that is created with help of the chosen few and you, the fans. It’s either greatness or great failure, there’s no in between. DM goes beyond making head boppers, catchy lyrics, Youtube videos and mixtapes.
