Demi Hughes

Demi Hughes is a 20 year old rapper/ producer out of south side Phoenix with a style and image all his own. Gracing the streets of Phoenix, AZ in early 2009 with the release of his first project Junior Varsity, an all original 20 track mixtape produced mostly by Demi himself, the ground work was set for Demi Hughes and his group aptly titled the “Bass Gang” to set out and gain a name for themselves. After gaining widespread notoriety for Junior Varsity Demi turned his attention to his second and most recent project Aiming For Hearts, a mellow all original work which receive great praise from fans and blogs alike solidifying Demi Hughes as a mainstay in Arizona’s underground hip hop scene.
Born Frank Demetrius Hughes in Detroit, Michigan Demi moved to Arizona at the age of 9. Always knowing he wanted to have music in his life as well as entertain people Demi decided to become a rapper, realizing no one would just hand him his shot he decided to make his own way. With the construction of his own makeshift in-house studio at the age of 15, Demi began his journey to hip hop stardom. He recalls how his first few ventures into recording music took place, “At first I was beat jacking and just rapping off big records from there I started getting beats from soundclick, but I wasn’t really getting the sound I wanted so I started making my own beats”. As a young teen Demi always aspired to be like the musically legends he grow up listening to; “I’m like Dj Quik, common, and Jadakiss meeting on common ground”, Demi explains in reference to his musically style and influences. Humble and always of high spirit, Demi display a little piece of himself in every song his does as well as the city his feels created him. “ I honestly feel like I’m give a great reference to how most young guys around my area are. We are just cool calm people enjoying life for the most part.” Always representing his city Demi hopes to be one of the first to shine a new light on the place his feels so righteously deserves it.

“Good News its Demi Hughes” , a reoccurring motto in Demi’s music, is a statement upheld wholeheartedly but the young MC. “To me that’s more than just branding, I really feel like it’s a beautiful thing god is allowing me to do this. If I was to never go anywhere with this music at least god gave me a gift to release how I feel inside.” With his maturity as an artist growing Demi displays a refined taste and sound for the direction of his music uncommon in most indie artist. “I feel as though nothing can be accidentally, the moves I make need to be precise and direct in order to do something at the level I hope to one day reach.”
“I love music more than anything because it’s always there it’ll never hurt you or leave you or anything of that nature. It’s just there when you need it so how could I not love it, music is my release”. With the support of his team and a number of clothing sponsors Demi hopes to soon take his career to a bigger state and do what he dreamed of doing ever since he was a little kid. “Man I just want to change the world; I want a shot to be the best.”
