The city of La Porte is proud to welcome Dena Blue and the BlueJazz Band to the 2010 Plaza by the Bay Summer Concert Series on Friday, August 6. The popular jazz vocalist and combo will play at Five Points Town Plaza from 6 – 9 p.m. The Plaza by the Bay concert series consists of six outdoor summer concerts held at the new Five Points Plaza in downtown La Porte. All concerts in the series are free and open to the public. The Aug. 6 concert is sponsored by Lubrizol and the Plaza by the Bay Concert series is underwritten by Beacon Federal Credit Union and Quality Inn and Suites.

Dena Blue is the consummate vocal performer and professional entertainer. The BlueJazz Band, with Dena Blue and Houston's top musicians, always ensured that each event has only the finest sound. Their performances are sought after by the public and admired by their peers. Dena’s soft and sultry voice is a perfect match for the jazz and blues genre, and her musical talent extends beyond to country and gospel music. She has the honor of receiving Best Female Vocalist of 2008 and 2009 from MellowD Music Production Co. and was inducted into a Texas Music Hall of Fame. When not performing with her BlueJazz Band, Dena gives back to the musical community by mentoring “budding” musicians.

Five Points Town Plaza is located at 201 S. Broadway Street at the corner of Broadway and Main streets in downtown La Porte. Vendors will be available at the Plaza, and patrons are welcome to bring their picnic blankets and lawn chairs. Parking will be available at the La Porte Community Church parking lot, 200 South 1st Street. There will be no street closures for the concert series, so parking will also be available on Main Street and on Broadway. - The Bayshore Sun

The Pepsi Summer Concert Series at Houston’s Traders Village presents the hottest bands ever at the largest flea market on the Texas Gulf coast. Performances are under the Gray Expo building rain or shine beginning at noon.

"Paul Chester is Music Director and Lead Guitar for The BlueJazz Band. He has produced two albums for Dena Blue and the BlueJazz Band and is working on the third, an acoustical jazz composition. His expertise lends itself to a multitude of musical arrangements that showcase the amazing talent of Dena Blue and the BlueJazz Band. Houston Chronicle — The city of La Porte's Plaza by the Bay Summer Concert Series continues Friday, July 30, with a performance by Dena Blue and the BlueJazz Band.

The jazz vocalist, who was named Best Female Vocalist of 2008 and 2009 from MellowD Music Production Co., was inducted into a Texas Music Hall of Fame.

Take Five With Dena Blue

Dena has been on stage since the early age of three. She was blessed to have her talent nurtured by a loving family that happened to be performers. As a child, she performed weekly with the singing King Family of Corpus Christi, Texas.
By the age of 12, Dena was singing on radio and television. In her late teens, she was a model for the fashion industry in Los Angeles. Her great love for music and entertaining has taken her to a career performing nationally and internationally.
She has become a very accomplished singer/vocalist and "on air" personality. You may have heard her daily talk show "Something For You" on Dorton and Crawford Broadcasting, a 50,000 watt station that reached five different states simultaneously.
