"BANNER YEAR FOR LOCAL SINGER/SONGWRITER, DENIELLE HANN"

JANUARY 13, 2009 (St. John’s, NL) 2009 has been one to remember for St. John’s based singer/songwriter Denielle (de-neil) Hann. From her notable performances opening for legendary artists to being featured on an international compilation CD, Hann says it has been one of her best years musically.

“I am just overwhelmed by it,” said Hann. “If you had told me this time last year that 2009 would be such a great year I definitely would not have believed you.”

During the past year Denielle had the privilege of performing as an opening act for pop rocker, Rick Springfield with her band Blue Eyed Blonde. She also performed solo as opening act for legendary country music artist, Ronnie Milsap at Mile One Stadium in St. John’s. Hann says this was among the most exciting things that happened in 2009.

“When I got the call asking if I would like to open for Ronnie Milsap, I was floored! It took a minute for it to register but I immediately said, ‘Yes!’” said Hann.

“I had a chance to meet Ronnie and his band and they were all absolutely wonderful. I am still in touch with many of them to this day.” said Hann

Last spring Denielle partnered with D’Arcy Broderick and Shamrock City Pub for the Shamrock City Open Mic for Young Performers after being approached by parents. The event gives young musicians an opportunity to showcase their talent in front of a live audience.

“We saw a need in the city for a venue for young musicians,” said Hann. “There really isn’t anywhere for people who are not yet of legal age to get up and perform, so D’Arcy and I figured we would give them an opportunity to do just that in front of a live and very supportive audience.”

Hann says she is blown away by the caliber of talent among the young musicians who come out once a week to perform. The Open Mic for Young Performers will continue in the spring after the winter break at Shamrock City.

In June, Denielle took on the challenging mid-day announcer position on Coast 101.1FM.

“We're excited to have Denielle onboard,” said Andy Newman, of Coast FM in a June 2009 Telegram interview. “She brings a great energy and work ethic along with a willingness to learn. We all agree she will flourish on the Coast.”

And flourish she has maintaining consistent ratings in a very competitive time slot.

The year ended with the release of Goin’ Back Home, an international compilation CD featuring rising stars in the music industry. The CD was produced by Quickstar Productions of Baltimore, Maryland. CD’s can be purchased by contacting Matt at 709-765-3434 or deniellehannmusic@yahoo.com.

Hann is currently working on her debut independent solo release.

“This past year has been a dream come true.” said Hann. “I am just going to keep on being myself and working hard at what I love to do. It’s amazing what the universe will grant to you if you just work hard and believe in yourself.”
