Bio

In todays talented pool of singers it takes a distinctive voice and flair to stand apart. With a powerhouse voice and dynamic stage presence appeal, Denise De La Cruz has managed to invoke the imagination of audiences with her soulfully catchy hooks that leave listeners immediately under a spell of good vibes. With straightforward messages in original compositions like, "Yo Soy De Borinquen", "Assess Progress", "Mama Africa (Borinquen me llama)" and "Falling (I Keep)", cantante Denise De La Cruz has given audiences a real breath of fresh air.

Denise was born in Santurce, Puerto Rico (La Isla de Borinquen), migrated to New York and grew up in a musical family surrounded by her Dad's Salsa orquestra, her Mom's lullabies, Church Choir and Musical theatre. She has been increasingly honing her craft ever since. In the last few years shes managed to create a buzz in the most critical of environments: her hometown of New York City. Already gracing NYC stages like SOBs, Nells, Cbgbs Gallery and Knitting Factory, Denise is no stranger to performing. Shes been billed at prestigious venues such as Planet Hollywood and The Blue Note NYC. Further, shes opened for top-notch artists such as Foxy Brown, Rah Digga, Reggae singer Dobby Dobson and Caribbean Soca star Arrow.

This vocal powerhouse has fused segments of Reggae, R&B and Soul to create her own style self declared Reggae Soul. Denise toured the European Jazz Fesitivals in July 2003 with Horacio EL NEGRO Hernandez and Robby Ameen (billed with artists like SONNY ROLLINS, CHICK CORREA, ELVIN JONES, GILBERTO GIL, KOOl & THE GANG, THE EARTH WIND & FIRE EXPERIENCE among many more), she also performed at the Orvieto Winter Jazz Festival in Jan 2004 and performed at the Heineken House Party in August 2004, where she shared the stage with BEENIE MAN, BLACK TWANG, INDIA ARIE, JERMAINE DUPRI, PITBULL, BONECRUSHER, RIC ROC, SASHA and the ROOTS among many more.

In January 2007, Denise performed at the Air Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival in Montego Bay with Living Room Recording Artist JD SMOOTHE.
