". . . this sensuous keyboardist/vocalist was truly a delight. With an energetic cadence to the likes of a Norah Jones vibe within her songs, "Waiting for the Grey" and "Broken", Denise Dodd is nothing short of captivating. Although somewhat humble and meek as she speaks with her audience, such vulnerability is refreshing as it has you connect more intimately with who she is."

I really love when a song can be minimalistic in it's instrumentation yet be so full bodied. This is one of those cases.
It's clear that this song is one of those written out of passion rather then musical mathematics. The mood fits the lyrics perfectly. The dramatic entrance of the drums half way through the song give it more emotion.
Vocally, the sound is soft and clean. A very haunting sound. I can clearly see the scene as if the words are that of a narrator.
Much love, can't wait to hear what else you've got stashed away. - The Sprachmorder
This is one haunting track. The cello backing along with moments of xylophone... really give this song a kick. It's one of those songs that you can really involved in, like putting your own life in this song. Congratulations on a top song. - Sam Holloway
Denise has provided us with a beautiful track here. Very haunting lyrics, beautiful piano. A very deep and well thought out song. I hope Denise brings out some more songs soon as this has been a real honour to review. - Sombre

Bio
At the age of 5, Denise had her first piano lesson. For the next 14 years, she studied classical music, and won many local piano competitions around her hometown in Central Alberta. After so many years of training, she took a break from classical music and started focusing more on her other love - poetry. Several years ago she started to combine her two passions - music and words.
While studying Recording Arts at the Art Institute of Vancouver, a fellow student found out about her talent and asked her to record an original song. That gave Denise the push she needed to play her own creations in front of an audience. She began to perform at open mics, and quickly found herself being sought out by both promoters and other musicians to open up for various acts around Vancouver.
Denise's emotive, lyrical style and haunting melodies resonate with the listener. She lists some of her influences as Ani DiFranco, Tori Amos, The Cure & Radiohead, while listeners have heard strains of Evanescence & Depeche Mode. In 2007, her song "Addiction" was a semi-finalist in the UK Songwriting Contest. Currently in Vancouver, BC, Denise is soon to begin recording again, and plans to have an EP out later this year.
