My lyrics? Honest, heartfelt & real. All my writing comes from a deep, spiritual place within & whilst it may not always be upbeat, will hopefully inspire & reveal an inner truth to provide a truly emotive experience & one that many, no doubt, will relate to.

Biography

I am a lyricist, writing mainly in the classical-pop genre (not too dis-similar to the style of Josh Groban, Hayley Westenra, etc). I am very new to the music industry but I do believe I have something new, unique & exciting to offer. I have experience in scriptwriting, short stories & have had poetry published in three anthologies. All my lyrics are heartfelt & are influenced by my own experiences. It is my hope that others will relate to my words & feel the power of emotion behind them.

When She Dreams...

Written By: Denise Dowdell-Stent

Lying alone surrounded by cloud
No-one can hear her though she's thinking aloud
Her world is her oyster
But it's trapped her inside
If only it would open to let in the light

When she dreams, I can see her
She's free from her shell
I can hold her and touch her
It's a new and different world

When she dreams, her touch
Feels like silk on my skin
I hold her gaze, our lips caress
A warmth fills from within

I wish my love could keep her here
But it's only when she dreams

When she wakens, her tears fall
She's lost from my world
Our time spent together, her heart and mind recall
I'm longing to hold her and love her again
She's missing me now and I'm feeling her pain

When she dreams, I can see her
She's free from her shell
I can hold her and touch her
It's a new and different world

When she dreams, her touch
Feels like silk on my skin
I hold her gaze, our lips caress
A warmth fills from within

I wish my love could keep her here
But it's only when she dreams

Her heartbeat quickens; she's with me again
Asleep in her world, she's mine till when
Her eyes flutter open, but right now until then
I'm holding her close because I don't know when
She'll leave me alone in turmoil and pain
I would gladly go with her and break the chains

When she dreams, I can see her
She's free from her shell
I can hold her and touch her
It's a new and different world

When she dreams, her touch
Feels like silk on my skin
I hold her gaze, our lips caress
A warmth fills from within

I wish my love could keep her here
But it's only when she dreams

The Last Kiss

Written By: Denise Dowdell-Stent

If I knew that when we kissed that day
That our kiss would be the last
Would I have tried any harder
To make the moment last?
But now many days and years have passed
Since that fateful day
I remember it so clearly
How you looked when you walked away.
My heart then so strangely cold
And your heart so warmly bold
I'm sorry my darling that I hurt you so bad
I didn't realise what I had done
Would make us both so sad

There's something now I need you to know
And that something is I still love you so
You were my first real love
And so very nearly
The only one I would ever have

Now we are married to others
As our moment was so long ago
But I need you to know
You are here in my heart
And this feeling I will never let go.
So I bid you adieu my darling
Please forgive me for all my wrongs
And be happy knowing I loved you
And that my love for you is still strong.
Like an ever-glowing ember
I will hold your love in my heart
But I can't reach out and touch you
We've had our time and played our part.

There's something now I need you to know
And that something is I still love you so
You were my first real love
And so very nearly
The only one I would ever have
