Among Day's early recordings in the US was a sultry ballad, My Loss Your Gain,as Lead singer for the Jades now,available on Kent Records,the United Kingdom label, CD -Music City Soul from Nashville's Black Cats- UK 1998. available on the Internet,and also in Barnes and Nobles.

Bio

Dennis Day's musical career has roots in America's industrial heartland . Growing up in East Chicago Indiana.
Day's early influences were the church and acapella doo wop sang in the neighborhoods in and around Gary and South Chicago.Day's group the Valiants were signed to Steeltown records.He later joined the Jades while attending Fisk University in Nashville, The Music City. Day was a member of the University choir and appeared in area clubs . In the 60's Day recorded a popular ballad as lead singer for the Jades, entitled, My Loss Your Gain on Poncello Records, now distributed as a collectible, on a rare compilation CD, Nashville Music City Soul distributed on Kent records the mega UK label.Day recorded demos as a session demo singer on Nashville's famed Music row for Columbia Screen Gems and Capitol Records.

He has performed with the Blackbyrds the Washington DC based fusion band as both a featrured lead and background vocalist. Later he formed the Dennis Llewellyn Day trio.
Day has performed with some of the greatest names in the Jazz world , including Clark Terry, Frank Foster,Dorothy Donegan, Lionel Hampton and Mercer Ellington to name a few . His most recent recording All Things in Time features 12 songs including a haunting original. African Musing , inspired by Hurricane Katrina. The CD includes songs from the great American Song Book and features Wycliff Gordon, Stephon Harris and other jazz veterans rounding out an eclectic offering that demonstrates why Dennis Day is regarded as a versatile dynamo in the jazz world. In 2007 he was chosen as among twelve finalist in the Annual Jazz Mobile Anheiswer Bush Best of the Best Jazz vocal competition in New York City.He has studied jazz performance at the Manhattan School of Music and continues to appear in venues wherver great jazz is performed.
