“ Shadow “
Shadow is the new 13 song recording by Songwriter, Guitarist, and Percussionist, Dennis Young. Young, primarily known as a founding member of the seminal, underground NYC 80’s dance band Liquid Liquid, moves his music to another place with the release of Shadow. While Young plays percussion on the new songs, all 13 songs are built around Young’s acoustic guitar & vocals.
Young’s moody vocals and percussive guitar attack give the songs a dark rustic quality. The addition of accordion, dulcimer, violin, bass & electric guitars, & percussion instruments enhance the arrangements. “Dennis came in wanting to do a demo on guitar and vocals. A year and half later, we had a full blown album with an amazing group of musicians all contributing to the mood of the songs,” said Tom DeStefano, Shadow co-producer and owner of FireDog studios in Spotswood, NJ where the album was made. “The recording grew organically, as we began to build the songs, musicians would appear,” said Young.
Special guest musicians on the recording include the famed Swiss folk rock artist Stephan Eicher, JoAnna Ferrar, a Julliard trained violinist & Salvatore Principato former lead singer of Liquid Liquid. Tom DeStafano and Kevin Booth produced the record at their studio; Firedog Studios located in Spotswood, New Jersey.

"Dennis Young is a self-taught musician who started playing drums at an early age from which his curiosity led him to other instruments that included marimba, percussion, keyboards, guitar, and vocals. He composes his own music and his compositions combine influences from rock, jazz, dance, folk, and world music while incorporating unique rhythms and colorful musical textures to create his own original music.
He is best known professionally as the marimba/percussionist for the legendary early 80’s NYC band “Liquid Liquid”. They had a major impact on hip-hop and dance music. Best known for there dance music hit “Cavern” it was sampled by Grandmaster Flash in the making of “White Lines" Since his days with “Liquid Liquid”, Dennis Young has recorded a number of solo records and has added his signature percussion style to many dance records. He continues to explore new ways of writing & performing music with his current singer/songwriter recording "Shadow".
