Denny Hess Trio

Denny Hess began his love affair with the Upright bass when he was 10 years old in the 5th grade orchestra. Largely self-taught, he had began his professional career at age 14 playing in and around Washington DC with Easy Smith’s quartet, a sax player of local note. While still in high school he progressed to playing in community jazz bands as well as with the George Mason University Jazz Band and later with James Madison University Jazz Band. Denny has played in everything from rock bands to Big Band Jazz. He is currently working in theater shows and Jazz groups around the Myrtle Beach area as well as his own Jazz Trio. His current counterpart of choice is a 3/4 size Chen Bass. Denny feels at home in the studio as well as on stage where his energy and enthusiasm are not only visible, but also audible.
Denny is currently recording his original compositions with the Denny Hess Trio.
