"The Big TakeOver magazine issue No. 52 pg. 227"

This CD brings back memories of when I was 15. I had a crush on my internet friend from Paris (with an incredibly deep, accented voice, sigh) and I was listening to Tool. This is Tool fronted by a singer with an obvious French accent: "I sail along whirrrling weends towarrrds ze centerrr of ze zpinning wheeeel." Though there are some new wave and electronic elements, they were sadly buried under the progressive metallic riffing and drumming, but nevertheless managed to add to the dark, swampy mood." - Staff writer

"Symbolic Sound's website"

Powerful and uncompromising in their lyrics, Deovolente's musical style could be described as a form of heavy metal, progressive rock, experimental electronic, new wave alternative rock. - Staff

Bio

Chris Chillier received an early exposure to a global world view during his childhood in the world's meeting place, Geneva, Switzerland. He moved to Austin Texas, USA, and began playing drums in a psychedelic local band. He soon discovered the Austin band Scratch Acid (later to become The Jesus Lizard), which changed his musical vision. Since that pivotal moment, his most influential bands are The Young Gods (from Geneva), Scratch Acid (from Austin), and the venerable psychedelic band Pink Floyd.
Michael Travis and Cliff White moved from Florida to Austin, Texas with their band Naked Vanilla. Their blend of psychedelic and hard rock quickly caused a stir and the band gained prominence, recording with Steve Albini, who had seen the band open for The Jesus Lizard. After Naked Vanilla's break up, Cliff and Mike began working on recording projects with Chris Chillier.
Eric Vasquez joined Deo Volente after playing with Cliff and Mike in a rock band called Meteorites and in a quickly rising local Austin pop band called Cesna. Eric cites his affinity for U2, Radiohead, and Killing Joke as influential on his style.
Spectators have commented on Deo Volente's performances with comments such as:
"Y'all are the U2 of heavy metal!" -Room 710 - Austin, Texas USA
"You are like a prophet up there!" - Ibid
