Bio
Dept. H began as a three man band in 1999 out of a Church Youth Group. They had just finished the lyrics and music for their fifth song in 2002 when their drummer tragically drown.
By 2003 the Band had found a new drummer and finished their first Independent CD “A Lesson Learned” with a song dedicated to the previous percussionist. Through-out the next couple of years the band played in festivals, events, and other gigs across the state.
A couple of the band’s songs have been played on College Radio Stations and Internet Radio Stations across the United States. The band has regrouped in 2005 with two new band members and several new songs.
Meet The Band
Jon Voges— has been playing lead guitar and providing vocals for the band since 1999. He enjoys playing all types of music. Jon also plays saxophone, piano, and bass guitar.
Marc Salvati— has been playing percussion for the band since 2002 and has recently been writing lyrics. He enjoys playing rock, jazz, and other music. Marc also plays piano and some guitar and is very artistic.
Sarah Buss— has been playing bass guitar with the band since 2004. Sarah enjoys playing several genres of music. She also plays the violin, saxophone, guitar, and piano.
Keith Dater – has just recently, as in 2005, joined the band playing rhythm guitar and backup vocals. Keith enjoys playing rock, jazz, and other types of music.
More about the Band
Jon, Sarah, and Marc all attended the same high school in Valley Center, Kansas and have been friends since that time. In the last four years they have all attended the same Church youth group along with Keith Dater. They enjoy playing video games and bowling and just hanging out and playing music together.
Sarah and Jon played in the Valley Center Marching Band and Concert Band together during Jon’s Senior Year. Sarah and Marc are brother and sister and also played in the band together during Sarah’s Junior and Senior Years.
Byron Rader the Bass Player and Lyric writer for Dept. H before Sarah is also a close friend and attended high school with Jon, and is a part of the same youth group.
Jon is married and his wife Allison is expecting a baby in January. Sarah is attending college at Wichita State University and is married to Jeremy Buss.
Keith Dater and Marc Salvati are attending Wichita State University and working. They would rather just play music.
Past performance highlights include: Kansas State Fair—Hutchinson, Fall Festival—Valley Center, Old Settler’s Days—Mulvane, Community Center—Marion, Teen Center—Sedan, Fall Festival—Newton, Battle of the Bands—El Dorado, Rock The Light Festival—Kansas City, and Shoutfest—Independence, Kansas.
