Bio
Born in Ireland, immigrating to England when he was four with his family and then to Canada in 1989, Derek Duffy has sung and played music from his earliest memories. His early years were spent performing in colleges and pubs throughout England. Derek consistently sings songs dedicated to his early Irish and folk roots. He has over 25 years of musical experience both in songwriting and performing. His chosen instruments are guitar, the bodhran drum and his voice. The mandolin, bouzouki and harmonica are also part of his repertoire.
Derek Duffy has played throughout much of Canada and the western United States. His solo performances have been enjoyed throughout Europe, as well as both eastern and western Canada. His previous band experiences include; front man for Crawdaddy, with members Doug Cox and Rick May, an ensemble Celtic group, Myriad, which toured British Columbia with the show-“A Song For Ireland”, and currently, Kettle of Fish, with Ken Hall and Jamie Rockeby-Thomas. “Kettle” has opened for Ashley MacIssac and Great Big Sea.
