DEREK EVANS RETURNS FROM ILLNESS WITH NEW ALBUM “LIVING AMONGST ANIMALS”
FIRST SINGLE “THE WIND CRIES” IS A MELODY DRIVEN ANTHEM THAT CHALLENGES
WHO WE ARE, STATING I WANT TO BE.....
(Los Angeles, CA – July 6th, 2011) –

Derek Evans' Living Amongst Animals”, produced by Dan
Diaz, will be released on October 11, 2011. His album was funded by his fans with his
campaign “Music With A Cause” via PledgeMusic. PledgeMusic is an avenue where
musicians rely on the fans to raise money for their album. In return the artists provide various
incentives including pre-release copies, signed material, and tour memorabilia. The artist also
chooses a charity to donate portions of what is raised. At the time of the campaign, Evans
was very ill battling a palsy in his left eye and having a tumor behind his right eye, almost
losing complete vision. During half of the campaign, Evans was in the hospital recovering. In
the end he exceeded his goal and has currently raised 176% of his goal with portions going to
three charities:

1. Lemons To Aid
2. Michael J. Fox Parkinsons Research
3. Dana Farber Cancer Research for his friend who recently passed away after a year
long battle with a very rare form of cancer.
The albums first single, “The Wind Cries” clearly marks a defining moment in ones life and
challenges who we are what we will become. This track alone, clearly marks a stepping stone
for Evans with regards to songwriting, musicianship, and overall production.

“I spent 6 years touring around the country as a solo artist”, says Evans. In that time, I had
lost my grandfather, spent two long periods in and out of the hospital due to illness, and in the
end I discovered my passion for people, life, and this earth. You can hear his travels through
the Redwood Forest in the opening track “The Gypsy Song”, the moment he met the woman
he fell in love with in “Yellow Steps”, the moment he started reflecting on his entire life in
“Down The Line”, and even the moments where he was battling himself and was trying to find
his way with “The Wind Cries.”

Derek Evans will begin supporting “Living Amongst Animals” with his new band “Derek Evans
and The Evergreens” on August 23, 2011 as he headlines the Belly Up Tavern in Solana
Beach- followed by a west coast and mid-west tour. Derek Evans and The Evergreens consist
of Steven Carter on Saxaphone, Ryan PK Brown on Stand Up Bass, and rotating members
on Keys, Drums, and Lead Guitar. Their first show was in December 2010, where they sold
out Porters Pub at UCSD.

Sharing the stages with a range of artists are a defining trait that seem to have validated his
mark in the industry. Evans has toured and/or shared the stages with Jason Mraz, Grace
Potter and The Nocturnals, Everclear, Blues Traveler, The Rescues, Erin McCarley, Greg
Laswell, Anya Marina, Eisley, Bob Schneider, and many more. What remains almost as
impressive is that, he has managed to do this as an independent musician.

Evans first single "The Wind Cries" was featured on Itunes Pop and Singer-Songwriter charts for entire month of September.
