My music is based on life, and life experiences with influences from 2pac, Nas, Jay-Z, and Kanye West, what sets Deric-C fah Prez music apart from other hip hop artist is the basic art of making good music and not over doing it as my high School Band Director would constantly say, the drive to be the Best and give my best at all times. Born in Watts, California then later moving to Compton- for me life was always a challenge to get out and show my worth. A run away child with no hope for the future except hustling the corners and selling crack cocaine in the Carmelito Housing Projects, to me it was a long way from the Imperial Courts Projects,in Watts where i would learn the drug trade from listening to old timers war stories then later perfecting what could have been my early demise in Compton This in my view was The Real Hard Knock Life minus the high pitch of the child star Annie. Long Beach is where slung my rocks where i was beat by the Long Beach Police Twice and where i gained my reputation as being The Weed Man a moinker that was given to me by the streets her self. Falling from a roof onto a brick wall and cracking a couple ribs at the age of 9, and after 2 weeks in a deep sleep, I never called a coma my eyes were open to endless possibilities meaning I could die any day and the city tried over and over to stress that point to me jumped 6 times in a year and truthfully, it made me an even cockier person mimicking myself after the criminals before me feeling my destiny was to be better than all so I took that and applied it to my writting as a way in, and not out. So now I hustle to help to tell my story with the hopes that I, Deric-C fah Prez could give the kids of today more to live for. My ambition is to be and has always to be the Best. I Am The Rose That Grew From Concrete.
