Bio
Having initially formed loosely around fireball figurehead Whitnee Springfield, what came to be known as Derider was born out of frustration with the copycat state of the contemporary music industry. Gone was the passion, the fist-in-the-air anthems, and the ability to just write great rock songs, and in its place was weak disco hi-hats, twee, jangley indie guitars, and worrying over-pretentiousness often associated with the prog and jazz elite. Fashion clearly took precedence over passion...until now.
A combined amalgamated love of classic female-fronted alternative rock n' roll groovers such as Garbage, Blondie and Queen Adreena, furious punk rock energy inspired by The Clash, The Ramones and Rancid, and a striking sense of melody and tightness derived from bands like Alkaline Trio, Bad Religion and Green Day informs the output of this explosive four-piece. The band, completed by bass player Charlie Wright, sticksman Nate Davenport and guitarist Rayna, have put their finishing touches on debut release, "There's Always Something EP", and itching to get it out on the road.
