Lyrics

This Woodland Won't Listen

Written By: Dermot Kennedy

The monk is kicking out at the birds in the square. He pushed your boat down the hill that's not fair. I said ''you worked real hard on that'', you said ''I'm just sailing for fun''. But I know his crest will have fallen when darkness has won.

When we were darkness you were hope, you give me happiness ten-fold, whenever I roam I'm not alone. You give me strength and I'll hold.

The King loaned his castle to someone he thought he knew. But greed sat in the throne, now the raiders are strolling through. He lays slumped in the valley, nothing more than a broken man. Promising the wildlife he'll take it all back when he can.

When we were darkness you were hope, you give me happiness ten-fold, whenever I roam I'm not alone. You give me strength and I'll hold.

The trees don't walk, they run wild. Saddle up, the night's still young as a child. I've seen you cast off into nothing. You couldn't see me but our hearts were almost touching. White horse still running. I saw what you wrote and that sunset was stunning me too. Nothing proud down there. Run down, you won't get one sorry prayer from me, from me, 'cause I'm not dragging you out, I'm not dragging you out. This is me calling you out, now I'm calling you out.

You just leave your shoes by the edge of the woods, and you never quite caught me but then nobody could when I was free. I had broken free and I was running.

The Hunter's Tale

Written By: Dermot Kennedy

When we hunt we unearth something different every time, every time. I forgive you for walking this land, you didn't know it was mine. You're just lucky nothing was out there, lurking round with their claws out. 'Cause no one truly knows what goes down when the candle is blown out around here.

The crows won't glide over that land. They're too scared, too scared. And I found myself down there one night was so weird. Yellow eyes hiding behind every tree, they're too near , too near. There's a forest surrounding this land housing something much more evil than deer.

Whatever it is that's watching me can smell my fear, my fear. I'd give anything now for a rush of courage and my spear, my spear. I should have listened to the tales of dark magic spun by the seer. And whatever comes at me tonight, I won't lose regardless of how fierce.

When we hunt we unearth something different every time, every time. I forgive you for walking this land, you didn't know it was mine. You're just lucky nothing was out there, lurking round with their claws out. 'Cause no one truly knows what goes down when the candle is blown out around here.
