De Rojas

Usually BIOS are written in third person, like if the band had paid some professional writer to make it look more....professional... right?? Well in this case we are not doing that and it is not because we are not professional, but because we want to do it in a more personal way. Ok, so, my name is Andres Rojas, and I am the vocalist, guitarist and songwriter and I am 28 years old. I formed ROJAS six years ago with my two brothers; Camilo Rojas, who plays the bass and is 25 years old and my younger brother, Manuel, who plays the drums and is 24; and we are from Colombia although the last eleven years we have lived in Florida (USA).

Our parents always supported what we wanted to do with music; so, we went to Full Sail (Orlando, FL) and studied Recording Arts (a fancy name for audio engineering) and after graduation we decided to record a conceptual album in the living room of our house, it was more like an experiment of sounds and colors; this was around 2007.

From that date on, we have been traveling a lot; Manuel went to India, studied some music and came back a vegetarian, Camilo almost got enlisted in the United States Air Force and I have been studying and writing some music; but seriously, we have been discovering new rhythms, new sounds, new worlds, new ways of doing art, so after a while we decide to become a power trio and bring back the good old days when musicians only needed a guitar, a bass and some drums to express reality in harmonious ways.

Our main music influences are: Soundgarden, Rage against the machine, Led Zeppelin, Bob Marley, James Brown, Carlos Vives y La Provincia, Bloque, Nirvana, Toto la momposina, Silvio Rodriguez, The Allman Brthers....

Right know our residence is in between Miami and Colombia, we are starting some series of concerts around Bogotá and some other cities. For now we just want to play all around, we have no record deal, no big buses waiting for us at the end of each gig, but what we have is some loyal fans and friends who are in some way our most beautiful achievement, nonetheless, with our heads up high, while giving daily thanks to GOD, for everything that we have and lost in our lives; I say to you, Rojas venne, e vide e vines!!
