Bio

Country artist DERRYL PERRY really stands out from the crop of artists that have recently debuted on the Country radio dial. His national profile and fan base continue to expand through nationwide radio airplay, hard touring and impressive artistic achievements, such as being hailed as the 2005 Small Label Breakout Artist Of The Year and Small Label Artist Of The Year by MUSIC ROW magazine, Nashville's premier music industry trade publication.

As an artist, Derryl's unique musical style blends the classic traditions of today's Country with the roots-oriented edginess of Americana and Texas Music. It's a potent style, infused with a Southwestern flavor that he's picked up through years of songwriting and performing.

As a live performer, Derryl has established a growing legion of fans through non-stop touring and a dynamic stage show of original material that mixes poignant ballads with danceable, high-energy tunes. Since 2000, he's logged over 900 fair, festival, casino and major club performances in 27 states. He's also opened for such recording artists as Diamond Rio, Tracy Byrd, Joe Diffie, Chris Ledoux, Andy Griggs, Asleep at the Wheel, Gene Watson and Gary Allan.

Originally hailing from Texas City, TX, Derryl grew up in the midst of a Texas Music scene where the term “Country” describes a lifestyle as
much as it does a genre of music. His blue-collar beginnings, combined with the musical influences of such prominent Texas artists as Willie
Nelson, Gary Stewart and George Strait, provided Derryl with abundant inspiration to draw upon as he began developing his own musical voice.

He performed in bands around the competitive Dallas/Ft.Worth club circuit while honing his songwriting skills with the help of hit songwriters in Nashville. After relocating to Nashville, Derryl released a demo project that garnered substantial music industry attention. Shortly thereafter, songs Derryl had written or co-written were recorded by other artists as well as performed by artists appearing on the Grand Ole Opry.

After signing a record deal with Nashville-based Music City Records, Derryl recorded his debut album ALL JUST TO GET TO YOU. J. Gary Smith, who has worked with Andy Griggs, Merle Haggard, Willie Nelson, Johnny Cash,Waylon Jennings, Bonnie Raitt and Lonestar in a production capacity, spearheaded the studio production of the album with Derryl taking on a co-producer role.

Much of the ALL JUST TO GET TO YOU album was either written or co-written by Derryl, including the radio singles “Four Nights In Albuquerque” and “You Will”. Derryl’s critically acclaimed debut single “Four Nights In Albuquerque,” has become a signature song during his live performances. After hearing it, prominent Country music historian and critic Robert K. Oermann proclaimed, “Make room for another Derryl! This singer-songwriter is a definite DISCovery. His honky-tonk vocal is super-expressive, and he's got a dandy story to tell with his lyric of finding unexpected romance.”

An early demo version of “You Will” was featured in the USA Television Network movie BLOOD CRIME (2002) and with its driving rhythm and distinctive guitar licks has since become both a radio hit and dance favorite during Derryl's live shows.

ALL JUST TO GET TO YOU is available in stores now. All of the songs from the album are also available as digital permanent downloads through the iTunes Music Store and other online music download retail outlets.
